I would say that the best Futurama guest star ever on the show was probably Lucy Liu. She's hot and is a kick ass kinda girl. She rocked in "I Dated a Robot" and she was cool with her guest cameo in "Love and Rocket." I think the worst guest star, in my opinion, was Beck. That episode was just a bit too weird, that's all. I don't hate Beck or anything. Well anyway, what do you all think? And please don't use Lauren Tom (Amy), Phil LaMarr (Hermes) or Kath Soucie (various voices) as your favorite or least favorite pick because they are all recurring people on the show.

I liked Sigourney Weaver the best, probably because Love and Rocket it the best ep ever IMO.  The worst, well i dont really know.. I like the beck episode and Lucy Lui was cool.  I never really liked Al Gore though, but he does a good job in the Eps.

Best: John Goodman as Robot Santa.

Worst: Beck or Lucy Lui.  I don't like guest stars that come on and the *entire* episode revolves around that guest star as an actual person.  It is ok if they play a different character, but themselves?  That is just ostentacious.

Although it is slightly different in certain circumstances -- example, Al Gore playing himself, but he is the head of the time patrol.  This is a joke on a role, not the actual person himself, which is why it worked.  With Beck, he only did the show if the episode was about him and how great he was.

Whoops forgot about pauly shore he is the worst,   :puke:

Definitley Beck. The episode would have been much better had Bender just joined up with some alien band.

Best: Goodman as Santa.

I can't decide between Bea Arthur (Amazon Women - second-best episode ever, IMO) and Dan Castellaneta (gotta love that Beelzebot, best song in the series) for best.

Worst guest star ever is Pauly Shore.  No doubts about it.

I would have to say whoever did roberto had the best guest voice. I'm not even sure if it was a guest but it was awesome. Him or Conan O'brien.
Worst has to be harold zoid.

Roberto was Dave Herman, who's a regular (he's the mayor, the Hyperchicken, and other minor characters).

Best: Gotta agree with Castellaneta as Beelzebot. Smooth. Runners-up: Sigorney Weaver as the PE Ship and then John Goodman as Santa Claws.

Worst: Woy, I'll probably get assaulted for this, but I didn't like Lucy Liu. Didn't like the character design--is that supposed to be freckles? Or severe acne scarring?--and didn't like the character.

Beck? Meh. He fulfills the requirements of his role, as did Pauly Shore--said role being one of annoying, unfunny jackass Pauly Shore--whose worship by Fry is meant to show what a drip Fry is. Mission accomplished! Had Shore played anyone but Shore, and for any other purpose, he would've taken the top spot. Easy.

Hmmmm, I havn't seen the Beck episode or any Season 4 episodes yet but out of what I've seen I would say the best guest star is John Goodman as Robot Santa. He really gave life to the character and did an excellent performance.

The worst would have to be Hank Azaria as Harold Zoid, I hated that character. He was so boring and added nothing to the episode, I hope he's never used again.

in my opinion Beasty Boys where cool in Hell is... and this weird rapper as KwansaBot (I dont know the spelling) in Tale of two Santas. Was that Weird Al Yankovich in the freezertube in Cryonic Woman? I loved Pavarotti in I dated a robot.

and there where several useless celebs as head and stuff (Beck, Lucy Liu (the head not the bot), Pauly Shore,...)

Beastie Boys were great and so was Beck. The whole Beck episode was so "beckish"... I loved it, especially the songs and the chase at the end.

Best: Much harder, definitely one of the Vice-Presidential Action Rangers, hard to pick which one.  I quite liked Gary Gygax, but Gore was good too.

I never really liked Beck's music until I saw Bending in the Wind. Now I quite like his songs. As a guest he's securely inbetween Best and Worst I think.
I really enjoyed the Beastie Boys appearance, but the Best I would agree with John Goodman.  :)
Dan Castellaneta is a close second.  ;)

The Worst?
Considering what Dan's Beelzebot character was like, Hank Azaria was wasted with such a dull charcter like Harold Zoid. For me Harold Zoid really was just a guy mumbling quitely in the background compared to everyone else.

I can't wait to see Sigorney Weaver as the voice of the PE ship!  :D

Well I like John Goodman's voice as the evil santa also John dimaggio did the santa voice good on the second santa ep.

I liked Weaver too as the ship.

Best: John Goodman as Robot Santa. No competition. Goodman's big booming voice was perfect for that role.

Runner ups: Weaver as the PE ship, Castjelanne Khastillan Caystynaellh.....Danny-boy as Beelzebot and Stephen Hawking (I just love that voicebox-voice)

Leonard Nimoy was cool too in "Space Pilot 3000".

Worst: Lucy Liu.

Runner ups: Nichelle Nichols and Hank Azaria (such a waste, of a good voice actor).

Misc: I have no strong feelings about Shore and Beck, as I haven't heard about them before I saw them in their episodes. I did like Becks music though, pretty catchy.

BTW, does anyone know who did the original voice of the PE ship (before Fanrsworth did the upgrade)? I hope that voice will return, he sounded cool.

That was Al Yankovic, but he didn't have any lines so I'm not sure he can be considered a guest star.

There are so many great guest stars to choose from - The whole Star Trek cast in Where No Fan Has Gone Before and Al Gore are my favorites.

Worst - it's a toss up between Pauly Shore and Roseanne.  Both made me cringe.  The Beasty Boys were kind of annoying, too.

Best: Dan Castalanetta~Robot Devil (My god, spelling?!)
John Goodman~Robot Santa
Bea Arthur~Femputer (I think she did a gr8 job considering she was so nervous, big up for Bea!!!)

Worst: Hank Azaria~Harold Zoid. I like Hank Azaria on The Simpsons, but not on anything else, he was sooooo annoying in Anatasica. (John Dimaggio would some what agree with me as he says quite frequently on the commentary that he prefered Dave Herman's take on it.)
Lucy Lui~Herself. All of the Charlies Angel girls iritate the HELL outta me! Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Lui all 3 of them. And although I like movies with them in them, (e.g. Shrek & Titan AE) I never like their roles. (Pamela Anderson also got on my nerves.)

I must admit Al Gore did a good job so shout out to him and the whole Star Trek crew who I also enjoyed. Just remebering something else that got on John Dimaggio nerves, he can't stand Jeff Cesario doing the voice of Marv Albert.     :laff:
I do prefer it when a guest star plays a character and not him or herself.

Sometimes I didn't like a guest star's character even though they didn't do a bad job, so I guess that wouldn't really count.  (But Pauly Shore was a bad character badly acted.)

I found Parker Posey distracting because I thought her southern accent was bad, which is odd because she used to live in Mississippi.

Bzzt! The Hyper Chicken is Maurice LaMarche.

I actually liked Bea Arthur as that fembot in Amazon Women. She did a good job with it. Coolio as Kwanzaabot was pretty cool too.

The most annoying appearance for me was Lucy Liu just because she had this entire episode whored out to her likeness and it seemed very unnecessary(not to mention the episode she was in was against the mp3 downloads, very dumb thing to be against). Also, Rosanne Barr was a horrible mistake.

Best: Dan Castalleneta, Sigourney Weaver, AL Gore...
Worst: Pamela Anderson. Didn't hog an ep, but I really don't like that woman.
Oh yes, and Rossane. Why was she there...? Not funny.
Also, Claudia Schiffer. Completely superflurous, and not exactly the funniest segement ever written. Though I guess it was so short as to be harmless...

I rather like 'I Dated a Robot' and 'Bendin' in the Wind'... both good quality eps. Yes, they revolve around guest stars somewhat, but I was enjoying the various funny stuff in each ep too much to care.

I never was that annoyed by Pauly Shore.  Possibly because I don't care much for "The Cryonic Woman" as an episode, so I don't watch it much.  And his screentime was mericfully short.  However, I won't excuse Sarah Silverman (Michele).  So annoying.  Did she even do Michele in the pilot?

Worst guest star would be Roseanne, followed by Hank Azaria.  The Roseanne bit was so bad I didn't even know that was actually her and not someone doing an impression of her.  Azaria was a disappointment, nough said.

I thought Beck and Lucy Liu did their jobs fine. I don't see what the big problem with them is.

Agreed.  She was utilized too much, and was able to get her way in the episode for no particular reason.

I did think the Liubot was pretty funny ("You should write a book, Fry!  People need to know about the CAN EAT MORE." ), but she could have just as easily been a replica of some other female celebrity.

I've seen this argument before, but I'm not convinced.  I don't think the fact that it parodied the Napster controversy means it was necessarily anti-Napster.  I think it could just as easily be seen as mocking the anti-Napster arguments.  I don't pretend to know the writers' stance on the issue, but it seems atypical for Futurama to present one viewpoint on a controversial issue as the right one.
