I think she's more attractive and probably a nicer person to be with in many ways. I can't really see why Fry chases Leela for the entire series pretty much but dumps Amy as soon as she talks about "hanging out". He's crazy I tells ya!

Becuase Leela is just as kind as Amy if not more so. He just has to dig a little to find it. Not to mention that Amy comes from a different world than Fry, both literaly and figurativly speaking. Amy is rich and spoiled and way to materialistic.

I think they'd both be terrible for relationships. And if you're just looking for sex--well, they're two-dimensional, and I think that might cause some problems....

But nonetheless, I wanted to comment on some of the things being said about Amy.

First, why does everyone think that Amy can't fall in love, be faithful to a boyfriend, etc.? What about Kif? That's the longest-running relationship on the show!

In fact, the biggest qualm about picking Amy would be that she and Kif are so happy together. By contrast, stealing Leela away from Fry would be doing them both a favor. Because we all know that within a year or two he'll have annoyed her so much that she'll kill him with his own holophoner.

Also, Amy's a slut? Well, Leela slept with Zapp; which is worse? And keep their ages in mind: many slutty girls at 19 are perfectly respectable women in their mid-20's (until their mid-30's...).

Leela puts on a very tough facade and really has a heart filled with disappointments and sadness.  Especially that Shawn fellow she mentions.
Amy's OK for a little college romp but all-in-all, she's fairly shallow.

If a man is looking for a 'fling' he's probably looking at a woman's physical attributes only.
If he's looking for something more long-term, he'd better be looking at mental attitudes, emotional stability, compatability, and so on. Otherwise he's either an idiot and probably thinking (if at all) with his glands, or inviting trouble.
This is not to say physical attractiveness has no place in forming a long-term relationship (there's that word again).
It's just that men look for different things in a short-term vs. a long-term partner.
