Mom has been missing during much of the final season of Futurama and during the first and, I'm assuming thus far based on story info and footage, second film.
Have the writers grown tired of her? Is she just too similar to Mr. Burns? Will she play a  larger part in the third or fourth movie?

What are your thoughts?

Evil for evil's sake gets boring after a while.  At least the Mr. Burns character is hilarious in his own way & has his own foibles.  To me, the character of Mom is written as evil without any redeeming qualities.  Not many directions you can take that in...

I think mom will come back eventually. Maybe she's just too busy smacking her trio of accomplices to annoy Fry and the gang.  big grin

I have to agree with sseattlejohn... Mom was basiccally just Mr. Burns with less style and saggy breasts.

I'm not a huge Mom fan, either, but it wouldn't be horrible to see her again if they found an interesting role for her.  If she does come back, I want them to finally reveal that

I think Mom is a fantastic character, many of her lines are priceless. I was somewhat disappointed that she didn't even get a cameo in BBS, especially considering how many other characters were crammed in there.
I figure she'll definitely have a role in at least one of the next films, though.

Maybe they put Mom and her sons on the back burner so she can have a significant role in one of the movies that are coming.

Yeah, that's what I think. They're just storing her away for more impact when they do stick her in.

I doubt she'll be prominent in The Beast with a Billion Backs, Yivo and Wernstrom seem to be the antagonists. She could possibly feature in he fantasy world of Bender's Game as an evil sorceress, or in Into The Wild Green Yonder helping one side of the ancient conflict.

On a side note I've noticed that Yivo is the name of the Jewish Scientific Institute in New York. LOL

I don't think so because, im just gonna say it, mom and the proffessor had broken up for over 75 years from the mothers day episode.

I wouldn't mind seeing her again.  I like her - and her relationship with the Professor was interesting, if not disturbing.

But she wasn't completely absent from the latter episodes. She had a few lines in Three Hunders Big Boys.

Don't hate me, Trinity.  I'm just the messenger.

I don't think she has enough depth to be a prominent character overall but I do wish the backstory with her and Farnsy were developed further. I enjoyed Mother's Day and generally think she is well used, if infrequently. Her venomous one-liners are pretty consistently funny ("..you puss-dripping sack of double-smoked butt-jerky!" )
Besides, what sort of future wouldn't have ruthless, evil corporate leaders? Sadly, not an Earth future!

*edit* It looks like there is a "mom-dragon" in the BG preview...

Mom will be back. And in my opinion, she's not like Mr. Burns, after all she's a mother, a a bad, mad mommy. The psychological roots go deep and resonate with many ppl (again, just my opinion).

Mom and her sons are coming back in Bender's Game.  Her sons also had a brief appearence in BWABB.

I agree. Mr.Burns is just maniacal evil, that is evil for his own gain. Mom on the other hand is evil both for her own gain and just to see other people suffer.
