I think the importance of maths to science and technology is exaggerated. I can't believe they really needed maths to go to the moon. Look up in the sky! See the big round thing? Right, good. Point the bloody rocket at it and light the bloody fuse.

NASA should hire me to streamline their budget.

NASA's budget is a fraction of what people think it is. You could pay it ten times over out of the education budget, for instance...

And, frankly, it'd be better spent considering the state of most public schools in the US. They're as bas as our comprehensives. Yikes.

On which subject: Fry should totally have tried to convince Leela to go to university with him.

Yeah but if you look at the big picture, when the sun burns out or the planet turns to mush, we're gonna really wish we'd spent that mulah on space exploration.

Beyond the blue sky lies humanity's future.

Yes, it is used in Hexidecimal notation to represent a number.

Are you saying that 11 IS eleven while all its other written forms (eg Hexadecimal (B), Octal (13), Binary (1011), Roman (XI), talley marks, Chinese, Babylonian, Braille, etc) are NOT eleven but merely representations of it?

The F15 isn't so bad. You can land it with one wing missing. Like to see a Eurofighter that can do that...

The Rafale is what the eurofighter should have been.

Most obviously the degeneration of this thread is symbolic of the deterioration of the relationship dynamic as found in BBS.

    ----

For everyone's edification, here is a partial list of some of the recent topics in this thread:

    • aircraft
    • Trek slash
    • whales
    • siblings
    • launching cats
    • clothing
    • numbers and letters.

I may be forgetting a couple.

Kirk and Uhura's kiss in Season 3's 'Plato's Stepchildren' was supposed to be the first on-air interracial kiss in history, but I remember the above episode (forget the name) aired earlier. Uhura is kissing a white woman. Hot.

Is that the episode that Nichelle refeered to in Where No Fan Has Gone Before?

Nimoy: We've done heroic things too!

Nicholes: Yeah, in the 3rd season I kissed Shatner!

Nimoy in real life is something like a 3 pack a day cigarette smoker.  I found it more hilarious that the women were kissing and Spock was smoking on the bridge.  Probably the same time Kirk was shagging the green woman.

Which may explain a sign I saw on the bridge of the Enterprise in TWOK - NO SMOKING ALLOWED ON THE BRIDGE.

It really exists.

That is random that Spock is sitting there while the 2 women kiss but then again it's Spock he has no emotion...

On my ship, cigar smoking would be mandatory for all the Command Crew.  The support crew would have to abuse narcotics for their jollies.  With me as the Commander, they would have to abuse narcotics to survive.

The basic concept of that thing was flawed. The B-1B follows the same idea and look how that turned out. Ok, I'm done with the planes now.

At the risk of provoking coldangel_1 to relapse* I'd like to ask...

If, in the Put Your Head on my Sholders episode, Fry had somehow been mature enough to not react negatively to Amy's "hanging out" comment, could their relationship have lasted significantly longer? Did it have the potential to go anywhere? How would it have (eventually) ended?

I'm pretty sure it has been discussed before but not for quite a while. Also, there are new people who weren't here for the previous ones who can discuss it and learn from the vast and useless knowlege of us old members.

That's a good question, but not necessarily one that can be deeply analyzed.

Since the beginning of the Fry/Amy relationship, the two seemed to get along modestly. That kind of relationship is more suited for temporary boyfriend/girlfriend and not husband/wife. Though their relationship probably wouldn't have any problems, it would just get boring after a while and the two would move on.

Amy has also expressed many a time how Fry is lackluster in bed. Either way, the relationship would have ended with boredom.

Yeah. Amy would have gone off with some other guy eventually. She falls in and out of relationships as easily as I fall in and out of homicidal rage.
Besides which, the thing between her and Fry isn't something she appeared to take very seriously - she just seemed to be having some fun.
