Not really. This thread is more like a kinda On-Topic Test Thread that just has shippiness in it every now and then.

Twilight is quite possibly the worst popular book ever written.

Quite true. If we didn't, we'd just be stupid! As for Zapp/Kif relationship... I'd like to see something that makes them actually cooperate more. If the movie does that, it'll be weird, but of course things'll be set right by the end.

But this thread SHOULD be all about the shippiness   frown  I miss the days of Shiny, when there would be long discussions on the dynamics of the characters in the show...   frown

I like the Kif/Brannigan relationship as it is so far.  It's amusing.   tongue  I would be interested in seeing more depth to it though.

What we need is to get you, me, Xanfor and the cold one in here on the same day. Then it'll be more interesting. Although I guarantee there'll  be alot more interesting discussion come June 24th.

I really hope the next movie doesn't draw Leela/Fry out any further.  BBS was just too much.  Get them together and show us how their relationship works with them as a couple.  Don't make Leela any more cold hearted.  My opinion of course...

It will keep drawing out their relationship. Fry/Leela will not get any kind of resolution unil Into The Wild Green Yonder atleast at last check it wasn't...

Methinks Fry will be seeing other women more now. Though I still hope he isn't dating that girl after the whole "five boyfriends" revelation. That's just... yeuch.

But yeah, it looks like he's moving on a bit. Ralph might say he's grown a pair.  laff

Oh it's not just your opinion. If she gets any more cold hearted she may turn to stone...
no no  We sure don't want that.... Now do we? Then we'll go around having anti-shipper threads. I can sadly picture that...

BWABB is supposed to be more about Amy and Kif I think. Looks like alot of Fry and Bender too.

My theory on that is that said girl is some manifestation of the tentacle thing. As supported by the line,

Fry: Well I went to another universe and I fell in love with a giant octopus and now I'm the pope of a new religion."

Fascinating, !immortal! finally draws some realistic shippyness...

edit: Linky, because the pic is very big and this new screen, despite being small, has a very high resolution which prevented me from noticing.

Why does Fry like Leela so much? Beyond her physical attributes, I mean. It's not like she's the paragon of human (or mutant) kindness and good feeling.

I think the closest that Leela ever came to enacting jealousy over one of Fry's girlfriends was when he was dating the Lucy Liu Bot ("Fry's made his decision...and no we've got to talk him out of it" ). Other than that, she's never displayed any noticable feelings one way or the other about anyone Fry was dating (even Amy).

Over all, she's never shown much interest in him except for a few shippy episodes whose freeze frames keep getting thrown up here.

Even in The Sting, the kind of guilt she had would be the level of guilt most people would have if they indirectly cause the death of one their best friends.

I think that's the whole thing about falling in love - sometimes you have no idea why you're in love with someone. I think it's this notion that drives a lot of television romances.

Sure she is. She's always sticking her neck out for people. She protects and guides and helps her friends when they're in trouble, even when they've been jerks to her. She does these things in spite of her own emotional problems.

It's one of humanity's few redeeming qualities: the ability to rise above our flaws.

I'd probably fall in love with a woman like Leela too, if I left my house long enough to meet one. She's strong and proud and noble, but also she's not afraid to show a gentle and caring side.

These days I'm sort of in the middle. She has her good sides and her bad sides, and recently her bad sides have outweighed her good sides a fair bit, though I'm sure her good sides will shine through again one day soon.

Damn, you guys beat me to it.

I'm also sure that her good side will prevail again. I don't blame her at all for being cold, I'm sure I'd be the same way If I got dumped at the altar. But the bottom line is, Leela is always there for her friends. Under the enormous amount of emotional suffering she's endured all of her life, she still cares about the ones closest to her, and I will always respect her for that!

Agreed. Hey, you gotta take the good with the bad, even if the bad can be caustic. Her loyalty is a very redeeming quality (even if it doesn't translate to reciprocated love), and in the end it shines through all the other stuff (at least to me).

Are we calling Leela cold because she fell in love with Lars, or because she didn't try to hide the fact and lead Fry to think he still had a chance?

Either way it's pretty stupid. The heart wants what the heart wants. Then later it might want something different. Also, ice cream.

You gotta admit, though, with the revelation that Fry was Lars (aka "the only man I'll ever love" ), she's running out of excuses to not take a chance. Maybe once the upset of being jilted (and everything that came after) passes... big grin

Leela has shown jealousy when it comes to Fry/Amy.

Fry: Hey, why'd you run off from dinner?
Leela: I didn't run off.  I had plenty of time to finish eating and stroll away quietly while you were kissing Amy.
Fry: Hey, you're not jealous are you?
Leela:  What!  No, of course not! (she sounded pretty unconvincing here  wink)

And I could have sworn I'd seen a little grumble/glare from Leela when Fry and Amy announced their relationship.

Yeah, that's kind of the problem. She strikes me as incredibly possessive... she acts like they're just friends but when Fry starts looking toward other women she goes nuts. Or at least grumbly. It'll be interesting to see how they act in the new film.

Bet you she'll be trying to break them up. Of course she'd be justified, but will she be doing it for Fry's benefit or hers?

And no, I've not had my skin stolen by ralph...

Leela leaves Fry to make his own decisions. Unless she thinks he made them wrong, in which case it's time for her to interfere in his life.

Yeah; about her trying to break them up, I said something to that effect a while ago, that even if she did exhibit jealousy she would couch it more in terms of being "concerned" about him or thinking that he wasn't acting like himself.

It could be interpreted like that. In fact, the first couple of times I saw that episode that was how I was inclined to view it. However, the line about only feeling all right in her dreams, with him, made me kinda rethink it.
Also, you don't really want someone's corpse under your bed, unless you really have some other issues with their death, other than just mild guilt.

I agree with Arch. I was trying to type up something similar while I was at school but the girl  sitting next to me turned off my freaking computer. I lost my response and all my work.

Leela definatly decides what she thinks is the wrong descion for Fry especially when it comes to relationships like with the Lui-bot. She hasn't out right done anything to try to stop one of Fry's realtionships that I can remember in my sleep deprived/ insane packing for school trip state.
