It wouldn't surprise me to see them appear in the background...in the Devil's Hands they made an obvious effort to cram in as many characters as possible since it was the last episode. It might be a similar story with ITWGY.
Reading this a couple months later, I gotta say, good call. Zoidberg.
O-o You're Crazy! Even though I understand what Hedonism Bot's purpose is, I can't get into him at all. He is unappealing to me for some reason. I don't like Cubert, Michelle can eat a dick, and I would not be botherd if Harold Zoid never came back. (Lobstertainment was my least favorite episode period) Besides that, I say why get rid of anybody, I'm sure each character appeals so somebody in pme way or another....except Michelle, shes a bitch. Oh, by the way, I'm new here and this is my 2nd post. Hey all.

I know this is confusing but i don't want Bender back...(the Bender from the movies that is). The Bender from the series was always had his crude and belegierence...but he also had insecurities, a need to be liked, and faults he acknowledged. In the movies he was just an evil and uncaring uni-dimensional character that did not resemble his former self. Even John's charcter voice for Bender was slightly different...or maybe that's just me and picking up a different tone...but i want the old Bender back...and not the Bender from the movies.

Ah. I see. So his longing for imagination in Bender's Game does not count as an insecurity or a flaw he acknowledges? Bender wanting attention in The Beast with a Billion Backs does not count for a need to be liked?
I could go on. Your critique seems to lack evidence. The Bender in Bender's Big Score is explained by the iObey virus.

Wha? Robot Santa is a great character; having him around gives the show seasonality.
When I saw him, I wondered why the HELL didn't somebody just blow the bag of bolts out of the sky? No more Robot Santa. Merry Xmas! Seriously, I've never found the character or the concept funny in the least.

As for Robot Santa, every good comedy show must have a villan to balance out the nice aspects of the show.Futurama is lucky to have so many evil ones. Mom Zap Bender Robot Devil Robot Santa Wernstrom Michelle Each has a specific evil quality and have an impact on the show.Since Robot Santa shows up in only a handful of episodes, I feel he is well used.
But I think the Scruffy character has run it's course,Either develop the character or drop him.

Drop Scruffy? A pox on you! Scruffy is one of the best throw away characters. I say 86 Michelle & Cubert.
Maybe a little backstory wIll help me understand the 'Why of Scruffy"

People really seems to hate Michelle. I would never want her as a recurring character... but I found her a really good choice as Fry's bitchy, immediately hated girlfriend in Space Pilot 3000. She really fits in there. And I liked bringing her back for that one show, The Cryonic Woman. Other than that, no. She's had her run. Same with Flexo, as I'm sure most of you agree about. I don't mind them being speechless in the background, but no more.

Bender. This is a cartoon, smoking has no place in it.
Are you kidding me?First of all, this isn't your average run in the mill cartoon, second of all Bender's great.Hasn't he said that enough? How many times must he say it before it gets through to you. And as for who I don't want to come back...I'd have to say Cubert. He's really annoying, and I haven't really heard anything funny from him.

Agree with the majority that I myself don't want Michelle back. Don't really want to see Cubert either, though Dwight is okay. Colleen was nicer to Fry than Michelle was. Still I think Morgan Proctor was the worst character ever. Don't even want her to show up in the comic books!
If I were Fry, and if Morgan Proctor tried to approach me, I would've screamed at her to get out! Leela should've beat the crap out of her from the very beginning!
Fry: I want nothing to do with you, Morgan! GET OUT!!!!
That's what should've happened.
The oft hated characters like Michelle and Morgan had to show up in the series to reinforce Fry's lovable loser status. I can see Michelle coming back for an episode and I can even see Morgan back but not as a Fry love interest so much as a Hermes foil. After all they didn't kill her in Hermes Groove episode, only sent her to prison. I can see Morgan as a Zapp love interest. After all Zapp is always looking for a woman to dominate him. Maybe he gives up on Leela eventually and hooks up with the dominatrix, Morgan.

Alright, it's not so much that I don't want certain characters back, so much as certain characteristics. The Harlem Globetrotters have not stuck with me in either of the episodes where they are incredibly smart (314, BBS). I love their funky jiveness, but hate when they are incredibly intelligent. It seems like a character trait they randomly stuck on. It was already funny enough in 314 that they were their own society and went around challenging other societies to Basketball competitions without adding such a wacky trait into the mix. Plus, it annoys me how they are portrayed as smarter than the Professor in their appearances in 314 and BBS. The Professor's supposed to be the smartest scientist in the universe, so why have him beaten by the Globetrotters? It takes away time we could be hearing more Professor lines.
Lars is another guy that I don't really want back. He was a good idea with totally lame execution. I know that him actually coming back is unlikely (being dead and all), but they might reference him since F/L will likely be together in the new season or because they might need to account for him in some future Fry's past episode. I don't like Lars enough to want to see him intrude in the series any further.
Finally, I've written about this before, but I don't want celebrity guests if they're just there for an ego baiting cameo. If a celebrity is going to guest star, make them an original character (i.e. John Goodman= Robot Santa, Sigourney Weaver= P.E. Ship- Female Personality).

I like all the characters, but I wouldn't exactly start a riot if Zap and Kiff never showed up again. I don't know Zap's great, and I'm not saying get rid of him, but I mean to me he's just a wanna be troy mcclure

he's just a wanna be troy mcclure
He's a parody of Captain Kirk, in point of fact, but he was supposed to be voiced by Phil Hartman (who did Troy McClure), before Phil's wife blew his brains out with a shotgun. When Billy West did Zapp's voice in Phil's absence, he tried to make the character sound a little like what Phil would have done - that's why he sounds somewhat McClure-ish.
