So, most of us think that Leela does love Fry, but when did she first fall in love?  Was it the first time they were truely together, or was it a slow thing, where she slowly fell in love without realizing?

Interesting thought: One of the plethora of reasons Leela was so hesistant to accept her feelings for Fry is because he reminded her of Sean. This is also part of why she was so intent on pursuing succesful men, figuring that if a nobody hurt her so badly that somebodies would be better for her. Once she realizes somebodies can be assholes too, she starts really giving in to Fry (End of Why of Fry on) and I'm sort of rambling and I think I'll stop now.

Y'know, it's a doggone shame 'Futurama' only used that joke in the comics. The Matt-Man himself is s'pposed to be a big fan, so what's the deal?

Good point. Her description of Sean in TDHaIP seemed to indicate he was a carbon copy of Fry in all things but musical aptitude, so he might remind her of Sean. I never thought of it like that before.

I'd like to see Sean return in the future episodes. That would be interesting.

Since when were engagement rings pinky rings? Not saying it couldn't happen in 1000 years' time, but from a writing point of view it would have to be on the ring finger to have any symbolic meaning to the present audience.

My wife, a vereran of the dating wars knows exactly why Leela had that ring on - it's a fake wedding band to keep the geeks away without having to fight them.

And I think there definitely needs to be a Sean episode in the future.  Maybe he was was of those plotlines the writers said they didn't have time to wrap up?

Fry's never met Sean. He was going on Leela's description of a hunched pasty slob and thought she was describing positive physical attributes, when her description was actually close to Fry's own appearence. That was the whole point of what we were saying earlier....

Arguably the crucial first act of 'fondness' if not actual love could have been in the very first episode, where Leela is persuing fry and fry decides to give in and accept the career chip, at this point leela relents and discards the career chip, and says she is quitting her job , "because I always wanted to, I just never realised till I met you"
