Probably the latter. I think the deal with Leela is that she considers Fry her "ace in the hole". When she does finally get around to playing that card, it'll be with great reluctance and caution.

In sci-fi romances it's generally the case that the cold, tough-as-nails female protagonist belatedly realizes her true feelings for the dopey comedic male protagonist after he's been whisked away by a malevolent force and/or is assumed dead. After which point she'll then devote herself to finding her love.

Woh, nice find gwynhwyfar.
@lemon: I heard that the Fry/Leela shippers will be happy when the new episodes come out because there's gonna be more of the Fry/Leela relationship. Either Fry just giving up or Leela giving in (sorry, that was the only way I could put that sentence)

Indeed.
One could also point out Scully in season 8 of The X Files as a prime example of this. Added to which, Firefly's Inara in the episode 'Our Mrs Reynolds'.

Sine Wave's chunk of blue-cloaked text is correct. Furthermore, it was when Scully *finally* started displaying any overt emotion which would seem to indicate a romantic entanglement.
Arr... I wanna watch X-Files now... but I sold all my box-sets to pay for a debilitating prawn cracker addiction...

Anyway, everyone's gonna need luck if they want to find shippy pictures now, because they've all been posted. Now people think they can grab a framegrab where Fry and Leela just happen to be standing next to each other. That's not shippyness, that's just coincedence!

Hmm... the ship normally has a control yoke (or 'joystick') like most aircraft, but in that shot it has a steering wheel... 'sup with that?

Incidentally, after playing Futurama:The Game for the 2nd or 3rd time I saw something shippy. When Fry gets back from getting the backup engine the dialogue goes something like this: Prof: Fry! You surprised us all and pleasently this time Leela: Yeah, Fry's great and we all love him but we blah blah blah blah I wasn't paying attention to what she was saying after the first part.

Leela: "In your face, non-playable characters!"
Best line in a videogame ever.

Hmm...i've seen that too. Most likely to be from a comic, although the picture looks slightly different in colour, so it may well be Fan Art of some kind.

The image came from the comic 12, "Sideshow Fry". There is a Russian Futurama website that has many Futurama Comics, including this particular issue. Unfortunately, all the comics are rewritten in Russian, so for non-Russian readers, the comics are like picture books. The url to this site is http://www.futuramer.ru.
