They were proally dating because leela wanted 'The Real Teen Experience.' And since there was nothing to follow the date through i'm guessing nothing good happened

They'd know better than to go too far on that first date. I mean, come on! Their pheromones may have been driving them crazy, but they're still responsible persons...

Aren't they?...

Not to mention the obvious awkwardness had there been a third person enter the scene unexpectedly

I guess teenage dating is alot less serious than "adult" dating. Fry's shortcomings as a potential husband aren't getting in the way of their "feelings," or something to that effect maybe.

^good point^

From eps like the sting we can see that leela obviously loves fry too and so she probally didn't let the voice in her head telling her that fry wouldn't be good for her tell her so since she just cared about 'The real Teen Experience'

You know, although there are countless examples to the contrary, I want to believe that Fry slowly matures as the series goes along.  He starts out with a triple helping of youthful foolishness and by Devil's Hands he's down to one scoopful.  At first he seems like he's ten years younger than Leela, but by the end of season four (so glad I can say "of season four" there!) he is catching up.  I can't separate out the deleted scenes so I'm counting the cut Devil's Hands balcony scene where he so confidently asks Leela out, plus even though he gained the hands in a rather foolish manner, he stays on task with them, perfecting his art and staying focused long enough to write an entire opera. Surely, surely, surely the relationship will advance from this point forward!

Of course. I find it odd how many people think of TDHAIP as ambiguous even with Leela's "I've been a fool" quote. Even though getting the hands was stupid, Bender had to talk him into it several times over.

At the beginning of The Sting, Leela seem less rational when she went along with collecting bee honey. She would've questioned about this mission if it were done in the first season. Of course The Sting would've been less entertaining if that were the case.

Maybe both Leela and Fry are maturing and becoming more comfortable around each other.

Leela is beginning to lighten up because she now has a job she enjoys, a position of power (Ship's captain) that she's never had and friends that accept her as she is.

Fry is seeing that acting mature gets a positive response from Leela and it's his life's ambition to please her so that she'll see him as dating/mating material.

In Leela's Homeworld, Fry is the person that she opens up to, pouring her heart and soul out.  She would never do that with anybody else.

In 300 big Boys, she and Fry are seen sitting together and acting like close friends having a casual conversation.  Later, Fry uses his caffiene-induced super speed to clear burning room of the entrapped people (Leela first, of course) and extingusihing the fire.

In Spanish Fry, Leela is the one who is in charge of finding Fry's nose and she's the one who tries to protect Fry from Lrr (to the point of singing a Whitney Houston song - bleccchhhh!)

In Devil's Hands, she finally sees that Fry does have a beautiful inner soul that she had never seen before and she was angry and ashamed at herself for not seeing it before.  She was the one who stayed and asked Fry to finish playing after everybody had abandoned him.

They weren't out of character - they were slowly maturing and growing closer to each other emotionally.

To rescue this thread I have a question.

What would Leela do if she could see what Fry did for her in PL and also at the end of TKOS? I picked those two eps because Fry does two completly amazing things for her, by any standards, and she doesn't know.
Any opinions?

Well at what point are we talking? Just after TKOS? After TDHAIP? I'll go with that.

I think she'd chastize Fry a little for risking his life in PL, but still think it was amazingly sweet and devoted. As for TKOS I think she'd be ashamed of herself for jumping to conclusions, and maybe mad at Fry a little bit for never telling her, but she'd understand why. Getting straight to the question of what she would do though, I'd say Fry.

Classy  :p

To answer the Question - I'm not as sure aboutPL but for TKOS then i think that leela would deffinanly get together with Fry.

What i always wandered about TKOS is how long did the time jump that took then to the wedding jump them forward and also how long were Fry and Leela married before the divorce. - They could have been married for a few years and Fry could have been the one who wanted the divorce.

I think it wasn't very long.  There was the first time skip which took them to the wedding.  They're surprised to see themselves there.  Then there's another time skip where Leela sticks the flowers in Fry's mouth, obviously angrily.

Leela wouldn't have done that if the huge time skip hadn't occured and the wedding would have ended happily.  So after the time skip that took them to the wedding, they were brought back to the time where they could only remember back to moving the stars.  This laspe in memory stuck, so Leela was now angry at Fry because she thought she had tricked him.

The next time skip to the divorce would have taken place shortly after, because I assume the reason behind it was Leela angry at Fry for presumably tricking her.  After the time skip to the wedding, the whole memory of how they got together was erased forever.

...er, i hope that makes sense; it's kind of hard to explain...

What Venus said...

In fact, Fry has said [that he loves Leela] so many times that she'd probably roll her eye and say, "Get over it, Fry."
---------------------

I doubt that...because he doesn't actually SAY IT to her that often.  He told her in Parasites for the first time, and he told her at the tail end of her coma, but I don't think he's actually said "I love you" to her face-to-face at any other point...he wrote it in TKOS, but she didn't see it, and a love note (even one written in the stars) is still not "face-to-face."  In fact, he dismissed those very words as "too conventional" when perusing candy hearts, right in front of her...(wonder if that had anything to do with her unusual grouchiness about the issue throughout the rest of the episode... )

Sure, he often asks her to go out with him, but in "Time Keeps On Slippin" and even in "Devil's Hands," he only says the "L" word in the context of making Leela love HIM.  Most of the time he only refers to his emotions indirectly - as in "how I feel about you" or "my feelings for you."  Without the worms, he he only seems able to say "those three little words" in a note (which is still indirect)...or to a Leela who's comatose!

This seems pretty tragic, because look how she reacts when he DOES say it to her: she brought him home in PL, she married him in TKOS, and she awoke out of a two-week coma in "The Sting."

Wouldn't it be ironic if it turned out that all Fry had to do all along to "make Leela love him" is just say right out that he loves her...?      ;)

Now that would be something...
Leela: Look Fry, stop bugging me!
Fry: But Leela I love you!
Leela: I sai...wait a minute, what did you say?
Fry: Well first I asked you for a minute of your time, then I asked you out...and then I said I love you...
Leela: You love me?
Fry: Of course I do, you're the most beautiful, smart, funny and wonderful woman I've ever met. You're eye sparkles when you're exicited and when you smile you light up my life...I love you.
Leela: Come here! (grabs Fry and started passionatly kissing him)

For the past... Long time, I've been avoiding this thread because the word "deep" scares me. After being linked here from another thread, I realized that this thread actually makes me smile way more than cringe =D

Wish I could contribute, but I'm not smart enough. :P

Being smart doesn't matter, believing in Fry and Leela is whats important, even if at times you realise that it just might not happen

They are hard to tell apart, but other than a few even odder Peelers out there, who would associate Zoidberg, for example, with deep down soul searching?
