Holy smokes. Fry_B asks how old Leela could be and hell breaks loose . How many posts were there since I left for the day to break my back for the environment (Crimes of the Hot and Birdbot really make me crack since I'm a bit of environmental person - maybe a bit more than Leela and less than that guy in Birdbot that didn't know spaceships can go up & down) ?

Apple Tea, how old are ye? I feel like bloody Grampa and a bit lonely here now after these age disclosures... maybe they are fake (looks hopeful). Well it doesn't matter, young is young at heart !

On Leela's biological clock...phew...was she fighting for Fry++ because she wanted to have kids before her eggs got spoiled (remember Zoidberg's line on her eggs?)... Oh well, all right... take some biologiocal urges in the mix of dark and sweet...shake, do not stir...one Leela coming uuup !

Holy Zombie Jesus, the Leela character part should really have been in the Deep Down. I actually wonder if Deep Down should keep going or what the hell the situation is - some  moderates and puts deeper discussions on Fry & Leela characters and relationship In Deep Down, should it be closed down and we spill our guts only in the humongous Lovenasium... who is looking after these things ? Shiney, Xanfor, Buddha, Jesus, Robot Devil, someone - can you advise please this uncertainty is killing me  :) or am I getting too excited and Hermes-like for no reason.

Well I'm actually only 21 but I feel old, man I need to get out more.  You should keep the Deep Down thread going because it seems a lot more focused than this one, also this one will close down soon since its almost at the 20 page mark.  Methinks the Deep Down will soon be the new Lovenasium.

This thread only has two more pages of life left in it anyway. Ahh, time flies.

The biological clock thing is interesting in a future context where life-extension seems to be a reality (the Professor is 1.5 centuries old). People probably have a lot more time to kick around and procrastinate.

I don't think it really matters which of the two threads this stuff is posted in, they both have the same purpose. So we have two threads: who cares? Just means thats it's easier to discuss two differant issues at once. Both threads are designed for analysis of Leela and Fry's relationship, as well as individual characteristics of Leela and Fry.

I think it's too annoying to focus so hard on where discussions should be and to try to keep a discussion completely on track. Just let it flow and it seems  to lead to bigger and better discussions.

Ok... wait to see what Xanfor & Shiny say as well.. In fact there's nothing WE can do anyway - that's the Good thing  :)

My only worry is that you know, say I am trying to read thru the Lovenasium Part 1 and part 2 and sometimes people (being humans) go all over the place. It is good because you sometimes cheer up but it's also bad 'cause sometimes you have to scroll hard to find some pearl someone uttered and it's buried under pages of other stuff. In LESS words (damnit), contents is diluted. I for one, would be ready to delete all my crappy posts. (ColdAngel would of course say he HAS no crappy posts)

Anyway.. must be the age.. just wait, YOU"LL BE THE SAME ! Bwhahahaa

Wow, you really idolise Shiny and Xanfor a lot LOL.

Um, I think with searching through old posts thing: it's just something you've got to deal with. It's just too difficult to organise everyone to post everything exactly the right way. Both threads have some great discussions and we couldn't dismiss one of them as being more of a spam thread because they both have valid points and arguments in them.

I suppose if you like, you could search through all threads and just post relevant things all together in one big post under a new thread for anyone who wants to read through it and just keep adding to that thread by not posting the 'crap'. Or put it on another web page or a word document even.

I just don't think it's possible to sensor the deep down thread or the long-winded shipper thread(s).

No, I was just mixing in Parabox stuff.. I just assume they're the decision makers and that maybe if I sacrifice a goat or something, I will get a Sign..

You are probably right; however Shiny mentioned Xanfor did something (unspeakable) to the first Lovenasium Thread, I thought this was in fact pruning the 'what kind of car have you got ? How old are ye ? I'm too fat & ugly! I am the ultimate God and want to kill everyone' stuff'.. anyway... This is at least slightly related to the Lovenasium itself as a thread so I don't feel that bad WRITING SO MANY WORDS AGAIN!

True enough, although... despite that him being an historical anachronism is something he should remark upon more often when Leela walks all over him and he is demeaned for knowing nothing about the world. He was alive before anyone else and grew up in a time when the modern conveniences of the 3000s were the stuff of science fiction.

No, Xanfor didn't delete posts...posts almost NEVER get deleted (not even by mods, which neither Xanfor nor I am).  What he did was find and quote great big hunks of shippy discussion from OTHER threads in the Shipper Thread so that we'd all get to see more.  He was sort of a Shippy Reader's Digest editor...  ;)

And yes, this thread has gotten "used up" faster than the original (20 pages is thread maximum)...so, shall we start debating possible new names now?

Don't know, that'll make DD fill up just as fast as Lovenasium II - whether that is good or bad.. At the moment there are good posts in both, more in Lovenasium. If you don't use it as a successor, DD could be(come) a sort of repository of deeper analysis although there are some off-topic posts (and there will be more of course). To really achieve that someone would need to cut&paste from Lovenasium 1,2,3,... Doing it too much however simply means duplication, & possibly DD becoming boring and a dead duck.
What you CAN have is a Lovenasium-style thread coping all the flak (i.e. posts  :) ) and some deeper stuff and more detailed analysis of interesting posts of Lovenasium in DD. I leave it to the more experienced posters to make a decision. If DD becomes the successor I can edit my first message in DD to include a link to Lovenasiums I and II [/u]

A little thoughtfulness (finnaly!) from me; I was wondering...what do you think Fry and Leela did after TWOF? I mean, she kissed him and stuff, eh. You think she would've done something, he would've done something...just to get this thread back on-topic.

Bender was 5, then he got buried at Roswell for more than a thousand years, which he was enjoying just fine until his chump friends showed up to unearth him.

What do you mean, KKBF? Like, a blow-job? No, probably not her style... I'd say she'd have done something sweet and boring like let him walk her home while holding his hand... *yawn*

No relationship eventuated after that episode so I think we can assume that the kiss was all that happened.

If nothing else, I am a realist.

But you never know... she could have taken him home and had one of those one-night-stands that sometimes happen between friends. You know, the ones that never get mentioned again. She might have shagged his brains out, then gotten worried in the morning about what would become of their friendship and Fry, being the nice idiotic guy he is, would have agreed to let it pass without making a big deal.
...just like real life... *sigh*

Oi - are you talking about Leela here or some hooker-bot (no offence to HookerBot that posts around  :) ) ? We're trying hard (or so we like to believe) to build Leela's psychological profile here. While the one night stand with friends is a true (and tested!) concept, Leela impulsively shagging Fry doesn't fit in that profile (as yet anyway), I would say.

Maybe not Fry, but she was ready to 'put out' for Chaz on her first date with him.  If he'd been nice to the orphans, she'd done him in the skating rink...

And she did the nasty with Alkazar just hours after meeting him...

And let's not forget about Zapp...

Yes this was abt doing it with Fry. As for Zapp, Shiny posted a very good possible explanation in the Why Leela did it with Zapp thread. Alkazar's scam was quite compelling - remember Leela's demons (last cyclops, no-one likes me, etc) and all the misleading setting Al put up for her, ioncluding the morphing suit  :). IMPORTANTLY, in Bicyclops she was not yet at the phase where she knew she was a mutant, parents loved her, she was not totally abandoned, etc. After that her self-estemm improved a lot and there would have been no way she would have fallen for Al.

Chaz beats me still, if you read my posts in Deep Down you will see I was really p*ssed about how Fry was treated while she was ready to go for it with Chaz - that is still to be properly investigated (i.e. not find excuses but find out whether it is just chronolgy - i.e. if she evolved from that level towards the end of the series).

Finally, I was referring to Leela as she would be towards the end of the last episode, The Devil's Hands. Generally, it is obviuous that she has evolved. Some (or most) of us have been rowdy, stupid, inconsiderate, cruel... at some point in time [ errare humanum est ] - thing is, do we persevere in that [ perseverare diabolicum ] or are we becoming better ? Same applies for Leela.

Hope this helps  :)

I can only imagine self-hate as the explanation for some of Leela's past romantic misadventures. She's too smart not to have seen them as mistakes.

Yea I always felt Leela was a bit insensitive towards Fry's feelings in that episode.  Why would she tell Fry that she would sleep with Chaz, knowing Fry likes her?

Because she's really a sadistic cow deep down. A merciless bitch-goddess who delights in the misery of others.
...Or not.

Maybe in some way she's driven to intentionally prompt feelings of jealous yearning in Fry so that she can feel wanted by him and thus gain a greater sense of self-worth. I've sure known a few women who have delighted in doing just that.

Convoluted... maybe true. Remember however she did not look for Fry intentionally - she just happened to hear his voice or see him in that joint, and she was very happy she had found someone to look after her pet so she could ... you know. Now of crs your plot (that I am really not sure about) may have been put up by her on the spot once she found him. OR, she thought of him more as a friend / confident. AppleTea's argument stands though, friend / confident or not, if she knew he liked her she could have set him up to look after Nibbler in a less cruel way (women are experts at that - did Leela not sing Deception is the curse of my whimsical gender ?)

Also I believe the writer wanted Fry to go as depressive as possible to create a contrast between his state after Leela's request and him being thrown garbage on and his status as saviour of the world (although alas - he remembered none of the good stuff!)

By Great Thor's Hammer Mjölnir! I did not know the hammer had a name.

Yea, the writer probably wanted to enhance the effect of Fry's worthlessness, but I still don't like the fact that she did that...
