Also #4 when Fry first started believing he was a robot, he said
"Negative. I must be a robot. Why else would human women refuse to date me?"
And then Leela's like stroking his hair and all over him sort of.

Well... she said "Oh... lots of reasons". Which was kind of a damper...

#3 Kisses him on the cheek after he saves them all. "I'm gonna continue never washing this cheek again!"

The first two were, I suspect, things she always wanted to do, and she was taking the opportunity due to his mental illness.

I was going to write a nice long catch-up post (no puns, please), but Number One on this list has made me think off down a line better suited for... Something else.

Hmm...

Something she's always wanted to do, eh?

If it were a possbility, coldangel's home would be a giant boob. Or maybe two giant boobs. Two storey boob house.

Pfft, great, now I'm off topic.

When Leela said "Oh, lots of reasons" she seemed sort of...sad about it...as if they were silly reasons. That's what I thought anyway.

Me, too.  Or maybe I was just so melty from the hair-stroking that I heard her words through rose-scented earmuffs...

Is it the hair? It's the hair, isn't it.

Great, now it's almost 11pm. No time to stay up and watch Futurama. I'm almost up to the later shippy episodes. Then I'll be able to fully understand things...

Yesh, the later episodes break the shippy big time. Speaking of which, I was looking through images from Crimes of the Hot, a very Bender focused episode that that I've only noticed that Fry and Leela in the background barely leave each other's side... take a lookie;

It's because they LOVE each other.

They are each other's equal and opposite. They complete each other.
Leela saves Fry and helps him live in a world where he would otherwise be totally lost. Fry helps Leela see the beauty and fun in the Universe - he is her second eye.

All this praise is making me sick.
...More!

Yes, I thought the 'second eye' thing was good...
*writes it down for later*
Leela sees the world in two dimensions, in plain and simple facts, cold and unyielding. Fry offers her another perspective, some 'depth-perception', as it were. This is most apparent in the first episode, when he helps her see that life can be more than just pointless toil. Before she met him she was little more than an automaton, but he made her view the world with two eyes, and so she started enjoying life and seeing the simple beauty in things... like a nebula for example.

Ahh, the 20th Century. I remember it well. A time of wonder and fast food.

Now, let us focus for a moment on the romance between Leela and Bender:

Not necessarily romance. They loved each other the way a man and a dog love each other. However that might be.

Well I know something as weird as a dog and a cryo-tube
The problem with popplers(I think)
Bender:'Leela I know your just a meatbag but I always thought of you like a big peace of tytanium!'
Fry:'What Bender is trying to say is that you're the smartest, the bravest, the most beautiful and a great friend...'
Bender:'Just like tytanium!'
Whats with the tytanium bit?

PS: Zoibberg to shreds!

You're right!I prefer not to notice that Bender is almost every of those scenes...
Yeh and I found that the little post about double date(maybe date) in 3 Hundred Big Boys but did you notice that earlier in the episode Fry and Leela were seen together after Fry bought the second cup of coffee. Also there were some things to help notice that its a Fry/Leela bit:
Amy:'Hey its Fry and Leela!Hy Fry and Leela!
After a little scene where Mushu eats the clock Kif bought for Amy:
Amy:'Bye Fry and Leela'

Hey, that's right. I remember trying to point that out to my friend when we were watching it for the first time. I was saying,
"Look! See? That's what shippy is, right there."
And all he could do was keep laughing and said,
"Who cares? That line where Amy almost falls off, and says 'Bye Fry and Leela!' That was funny."

He completely missed the point

Why not?  Bender seems to approve of his best friends getting together.  He's been surprisingly sympathetic (the ends of Parasites & Time/Slips) and even helpful (encouraging Fry in Devil's Hands, etc).

I noticed!  In fact, it's been one of my "secret shippy moments" for quite a while...I mentioned it somewhere a while ago.  And I bless Amy pointing it out like that.   :D

I could say more (MUCH more ) about Leela and Fry, but I've said a lot of it already, and so have others...if you're interested, check out the original 'Intelligent, Long-Winded Shipper Thread'...for some past discussion of Fry and Leela in great and gory detail, that's the place to start.

Actually I read most the second thread and some of the first... but really I have two concerns 1) is it Ok to bump up old posts by replying to them and 2) is the Lovenasium not becoming too all-encompassing for Fry / Leela topics ? ...(BTW I know I will upset some many star-ranking posters but I do not like the term Lovenasium - it sort of reminds me of the Velour Addict )

Okay, people!  I have been rather fearful of this trend, and here is independent confirmation: this thread is losing its focus.  We need less light chattiness (however fun that may be) and more of the Intelligent, Long-Winded Shipper-ness that the thread was created to be home for.

Perhaps someone could start a "Shipper Lite(TM) ShippyChitChat" thread...or the "Deep Down: Fry and Leela Soul Searching" thread will BECOME the defacto Intelligent, Long-Winded Shipper Thread's sequel.

Possibly this is already the case and I am fighting the tide here...but I'm still gonna get my pail and start scooping, darn it.
