In the second episode instead of cotton candy, was that linen candy Fry and the gang were eating?  Also, in the comic book about them in the circus, elephant ears and cotton candy coats were the popular snacks.

How come in the cartoon there was 'linen candy' and in the comic there was cotton candy coats?

Well, if you don't like that, try some Archduke Chocula or some Admiral Crunch.

Maybe Linen candy tastes better and they've turned all remaining cotton candy into clothing because it feels more comfortable in hot weather

Orlon, linen, same difference

Or·lon
A trademark used for an acrylic fiber or yarns made from this fiber.

Thus, Orlon Candy is a trademarked name, while cotton candy is still the generic name.
