I have always wanted to talk about this for some reason and it is not all that important, but it must be said.   tongue

Is it me or does Fry have a pretty large stomach. In numerous episodes when Fry's shirt is sometimes off, I can't but notice his stomach. This to me makes him my favorite character because it shows how he is not some health junkie and lives his life not caring what people think about him. He eats a lot and drinks tons of cola, but he doesn't concern himself with being physically healthy. It is great.

Thoughts on this?

Just a warning...too much of that can cost you.  A lifetime of eating low-fiber crap can give you diverticulitis

Don't ask me how I know this.  hmpf

His job has a tendency to be somewhat physically demanding.  Whether it was pedaling pizzas for a pizza peddler or transporting cargo from a landing area across a distance great enough to set up a misadventure or being involved in a misadventure of some sort, Fry was always moving or doing something.  The fact that he was still out of shape leads me to believe he has what I refer to as "Teamster Belly."  This condition is usually found in people who work somewhat active jobs and believe that their activity level at work allows them to eat as much crap and drink as much beer as their fat, union paychecks will allow without aditional exercise.

Shiny, hahaha, I don't eat like Fry does. I was just stating something. And I have never heard of diverticulitis. Scary!

Thunder that is a good way to put it. I have never thought about that. That is probaly what more then half America thinks.

Back in "I, Roommate" they were actually trying to draw him a little fatter in every scene.

...But in the housewarming party /get-together he looked a bit thinner. I think that like me they try different things, put it "on air" and see what anyone thinks of it.

As far as a 'real world' answer, maybe his weight kinda fluctuates. Some months he's more active than others so his weight shifts accordingly.

I recently noticed that, but now it makes more sense...

To me Fry is of average weight.  And sometimes his stomach fluctuates from average to fat.  His weight probably ranges from 140-160.

At least that's what inconsistant animators use for an excuse.

Didn't they do the same to Zapp in the early episodes?

Check out Fry in Bender Should Not Be Allowed on TV, during his line "Nah, I had it coming," early on. I think it's the fattest Fry has ever been, but it may just be because he was sitting down.

Someday, when I'm bored, I'll take those two DVDs on two different TVs, freeze frame that exact shot in both, and compare them.

Someday, when I'm really, really, really bored.

Why not just hit someone up for framegrabs and compare them on the computer?

Edit - 7/15/05, wee hours....nevermind, I just did, in the Framegrab Shop thread

Well, that's 'cause no one posted them yet.  My request is midway down page 14, and so far no responses.  Looks like I was a bit too optimistic in posting the link....

'Scuse the double post...but the inestimable Dr. Thunder came through with the grabs.

Fryflab grabs

Dr. T thinks they look about the same, and I kinda agree...but in the first, his T-shirt rides up a bit, so it looks worse.

Fry Bum---Sorry to go off topic a tad bit, but I really like your "innocent Fry" avatar.  What's it listed as, do you remember?  Thanx.

Fry has normal weight in all areas except the stomach; there are a lot of men like that.
