I juss wanna make a strong comment bout a certain ep of Futurama that i watched recently. it was the one about Fry finding his dog Seymor and wanting to clone it but then later realised thatt he didn't want to go thru wiv it.

Cartoons are meant to b funni and make ppl laugh. This was really heart breaking and made me teary in the end. It was so sad coz it showed Seymor waiting forever for Fry to come back and it waited until it was old and died. and it was such a cute dog too

I neva eva want to c that ep eva again and i hope there r no other futurama eps like it...........pleeeeeeeeeeeaaa aaaase   :(

That's Futurama - Not a simple cartoon show!

It's not all about jokes and gags, Futurama covered more. There have been more sad episodes, like Leela's Homeworld, time keeps on Slipping or Luck of the Fryrish, which endings are hard to take sometimes.
These emotions is what we love Futurama for, it seperates this great show from all the other junk that is aired.

Welcome to PEEL,

please use proper English here and not the chat-speak. There is enough time to write words correctly and the usage of "u", "r", "b", "ppl", "neva", "eva",... just hurts my and many more PEELers' eyes.   ;)

You might also want to check out the official unofficial PEELer's FAQ many more guidelines to PEEL are covered in there.

I remember seeing a thread like this before. I'll search it, so don't be surprised if it gets closed soon.

Enjoy your stay here at Nerd-world.

edit: I found some:
- The general "Jurassic bark" thread
- Jurassic Bark ending- Intended to be sad or silly?

Jurassic Bark is rather sad at the end, that is one of the reasons it is so good, most cartoons would have taken the easy route and had a happy ending.

Welcome to Peel lil_nippa, I hope you enjoy other episodes of the show   :)

FYI, there are plenty of humourous ones though.  Try Season 1 and 2 episodes.  The most serious one of those is probably A Bicyclops Built for Two, which isn't depressing...it simply has a bit more plot and internal character conflict.

I, however, love Futurama for the juxtaposition of comedy and serious emotion you see in later episodes like those GermanFryFan listed and slightly happier ones like The Sting.  Oh, how I love The Sting...

Yes, the episodes that GFF listed are all sad stories in a comical cartoon series. And, like Nerd-o said, The Sting was a sad but happy one, as was Time Keeps on Slippin'. The Stings is sad because
. These kind of episodes show the creativity and depth involved in cartoon characters, if you really feel like calling it a cartoon.

Question- Would you call Futurama more of a "cartoon" or a "sitcom"?

cartcom?  or sittoon?  it has the dramatic flair of a daytime soap, but the subtle humor of a fox made cartoon... damn them execubots at fox!

I agree with smision if you feed a dog pizza or chocolate it could get really sick or die.

I'd call it an animated action sci-fi comedy drama.

Oh. I always thought of it as an animated adventure sci-fi action comedy drama, but your idea is alot better.

Woo hoo! Someone agrees with me!

Seriously, when my dog eats pizza she throws up. It's not good for dogs.

You get the stars, or 'ranks', by posting. Each time you post it goes to your post count, which you can view in your profile.
Just don't double post or spam because you can get your post count reset to zero. I know these things because I read them in the FAQ.
Very informative stuff that! (I'm relatively new also)
