Obviously, nothing like this should ever be attempted, but I was wondering if there were any celebrities that the forum could see portraying Futurama characters.  This idea was spawned when I was looking at a Simpsons fansite and they listed their "ultimate" Simpsons Live Action Movie cast list (they had Keanu Reeves as Smithers).  Once again, I don't endorse making Futurama or The Simpsons into a live-action film, but do you think there are people who could pull off certain characters?

As a side note, I was just watching "Twister" and noticed how good Helen Hunt looks in a tank top, so she's got my vote for Leela.

Hey, he/she said that he/she does'nt endorse making them into live action.

Either Tom Jones or one of the Bee Gees could be Disco Stu.

Fry: We need a likeable dimwit, so how about Adam Sa-- no, he's not likeable. How about Nicholas Brendon?

Leela: Someone used to prosthetics (unless you know any cyclopic actresses). How about Jeri Ryan?

Bender: Animatronic or CGI, with John DiMaggio's voice.

Amy: Linda Park.

Hermes: Dr. Dre.

Zoidberg: The special at Sizzler.

Prof. Farnsworth: That guy who's always standing and walking.

OK, the last three were jokes.

Just have the voice actors play them.

How could Billy West play Fry, Farnsworth, and Brannigan?  Not to mention Katie Segal looks nothing like Leela.

How about Angelina Jolie? (Maybe we have to poke one of her eyes out though)

Yup, Leela has that Lara Croft-ish body, seeing how both of them are physically fit and can defend themselves.

A) Angelina Jolie is nasty
B) Jeri Ryan's bustline is more like Leela's and it's not padded, either.

Why live action though? It'd be better making the movie the way the show was created, as a cartoon. That's my two-cents anyway. I just can't see anybody live accurately playing cartoon characters.

I agree, but this is a hypothetical question.

Hmm... for Zoidberg? probably just the voice acter in a suit, since looks don't matter. Ditto for Kif and Bender. Jeri Ryan would definately be best for Leela. Mom should be played by that mom on Malcom in the Middle, with makeup to look older. She could handle the yelling.

I'm glad I'm not the only (straight) man alive who doesn't find Angelina Jolie attractive.  Although I'm no big fan of Ms. Ryan, either.  Heather Grahm actually occurred to me as being fit to play Leela.

I don't like the idea of Heather Graham at all. She's... dirty and hookerish. Leela shouldn't be that way.

For Fry, use Ron Howard and make sure Hairbot takes care of his bald spot.

Leela: I dunno, any woman with a ponytail and a latex mask over their eyes.

Bender: leave it up to Industrial Lights and Magic.

Amy: Lucy Liu, and try to make her look different than her head-in-a-jar. If that fails, any chinese-american girl will work.

Zoidberg: Once again, leave it up to ILM.

Hermes: I dunno... teach Busta Rhymes to talk like a Jamaican or something.

Prof: Maybe get some guy in his 40s and add aging effects...

Nibbler: ILM.

Hmmmmm...are you talking about the Billy Crystal post? I think you mistakenly posted it in another thread, unless Marc's wacky german coding has gotten us into another zany situation.

I like the idea for Angelina Jolie to playe as Leela. she got the boddie for Lara so that might work for Leela.

Fry: Brendan Fraser, he's cute to play Fry.
Bender: tough choice, but I go with Jim Carry, you don't need SE to be Bender, check out The Grinch
Amy: Lucy Liu

That post somehow found it's way into the "Insert your name here.."-thread.

Edit: Damn you're fast, Nix.  :)

How about William Shatner playing Zapp Brannigan? He may be a bit too old, but that's what the make-up department is for.

Lucy Liu doesn't work as Amy. My choices (Kristin Kreuk, Keiko Agena, and Linda Park) are better.

Of the three I'd go with Linda Park.

Speaking of ST actress, I think Michelle Krusiec would be a good choice too.

What are you people talking here is WIDELY popular in Japan and in some other countries. They call it "cosplay" (costume play) - they even have parties of these. Mainly it's people around 18-22 and they dress like videogame characters (there were alot of great and good photos of cosplays of the King of Fighters fighting game for example). These people mostly do their outfit by themselves, spending shitloads of money on their costumes. But pro cosplayers rule.

And who the hell will be, for example portraying Dr. Zoidberg? Or even worse, Prof. Farnsworth? =)

Zoidy could be portrayed by any middle-aged chubby man with a decent costume. Radio-control the mouth feelers and you're set.

Yay! Lane rocks.  But i dont think she's very "collegy" do you?  maybe if we waited a few years.

I think we should get burt reynolds to play zapp.  not that he looks like zapp, but he's a sleezy guy like zapp.

or we could get cary elwes to play zapp.  Cary, once sexy and romantic, is now full of "grown man" fat and i feel he could really identify with zapp's situation

Zoidberg would be fine if they just got that tick suit, painted it red and added those mouth things (and clothes)
I think it'd be cool if bender was an old style "guy in a robot costume" thing, to jive with the retro feel the show has.  (common sarge you can back me up  :))
Are there no old actors anymore? why would you age a 40 year old?  thats the weirdest thing i've heard all hour.
