The song "The Love of Richard Nixon" by Manic Street Preachers reminds me of ... Nixon's head  :p Whenever I hear the song, I just expect a sound-bite to go "NIXON'S BACCCCK!!!"   :laff:

'Posession' by Sara McLachlan reminds me a lot of Fry's situation both with Leela and being seperated from his family by a thousand years. It also reminds me of Leela's egregiously bad luck with men.

I listen to it a lot whilst working on my fic's.

Some parts of SR-71's Fame remind me of Leela.

"Staring down from 30 thousand  feet above the planet
She gets the sense nothing’s behind her anymore
Her quest for fame has left her nothing short of a fanatic
For the chance to be the one that we adore...
They called her princess cause they always knew she’d be a servant
Never having an ambition in her life
They all knew she’d end up just another loser’s girlfriend
Who’d have thought that she’d become a Jedi Knight"
Also Evanescence "Bring me to Life" reminds me of Leela because she really didn't have a good life before she met Fry.

I was going through my parents' Beatles collection earlier (God those men were genii...) and a couple songs stood out

"In My Life" reminds me of Fry and his relationship with Leela:

Quote
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
And I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more.

"A Little Help From My Friends" reminds me of all the main characters and how they all come to relate to and depend on each other, even if some of them still can't stand the others.

The theme song to the original Japanese version of Dragon Ball GT reminds of Fry and Leela, here are the lyrics from http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/%7Evegex/multimedia/lyrics/jap-dan_dan.html  :

Bit by bit, you’re charming my heart
With that dazzling smile.
Let’s fly away from this endless darkness. Hold my hand.

When I first met you,
I remembered a place that I held dear when I was a child.
Won’t you dance with me?
On this winding road of light and shadow, are you still lost on him?
There were just a few times where it seemed like I wanted to turn back,
But holding on to love, courage, and pride, I’ll fight on!

Bit by bit, you’re charming my heart,
A fragment of the hopes of this world.
Surely, everyone wants to obtain eternity.
Even though I pretend I don’t care at all,
Hey, I’m in love with you!
Let’s fly away from this endless darkness. Hold your hand.

Whether your expression is tired or angry, I still like you,
But I wonder if it’s all right to try so hard in life like that.
As for me...I’m tossed about by your casual gestures in the seaside blue.
But evevn so, are you lost on him?
I had something more that I wanted to ask, but
Our talk is interrupted by the sound of cars, and wafts into the street.

Bit by bit, you’re charming my heart,
And though it’s somehow strange, even to me,
There’s something there that makes me want to call you right away.
Even though I pretend I have no feelings at all,
In the end, the only thing I’ve seen is you.
Let’s fly away toward the sea! Hold my hand.

SWV's "I'm So Into You".  That song reminds me of Zoidberg's line from Deep South.

The song that reminds me of Fry, both in his relationship with Leela, and, bizarrely, his relationship to Seymour, is "I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You" by Colin Hay.

Check out http://www.livejournal.com/community/futurama/228577.html  for a Livejournal icon songset I made a few weeks back.

Also, the chorus to a song called "This is Me" by Robbie Schaffer also reminds me a lot of Fry and Leela. (As told by Leela's perspective  :)

o/`And if you told me half and half still make a whole
And if you chose me over one and one half million souls
If you loved me with abandon, I'd run anyhow
And if you asked me I'd say that's what I know of love now`\o

I made an icon to that, too:

I thought of the scene between Fry and Leela in "The Series Has Landed" and came up with the connection to this song.  The accompanying music is quite desolate and muted, much like the surface of the moon.

Modest Mouse - Third Planet

Everything that keeps me together is falling apart, I've got
this thing that I consider my only art of fucking people over
My boss just quit the job says he's going out to find blind
spots and he'll do it

The 3rd Planet is sure that they're being watched by an
eye in the sky that can't be stopped
When you get to the promise land your gonna shake that
eye's hand

Your heart felt good it was dripping pitch and made of wood
And your hands and knees felt cold and wet on the grass to me
Outside naked, shivering looking blue, from the cold
sunlight that's reflected off the moon
Baby cum angels fly around you reminding you we used
to be three and not just two
And that's how the world began
And that's how the world will end

A 3rd had just been made and we were swimming in the
water, didn't know then was it a son was it a daughter
When it occurred to me that the animals are swimming
around in the water in the oceans in our bodies and
another had been found another ocean on the planet
given that our blood is just like the Atlantic
And how
The universe is shaped exactly like the earth if you go
straight long enough you'll end up where you were

Spaceman by 4 Non Blondes reminds me of Fry, circa SP3K.

Quote
A new world is over me,
And I'll reach up to the sky
And pretend that I'm a spaceman
In another place and time
I guess I'm looking for a brand new place
I remember living in a different life
Is there a better life for me?

The band Late Tuesday weighs in on (part of) The Great Leela's Psyche Debate.

To ship...

Quote
Exactly How You Feel
You mention to me all the ordinary couples are just
Friends holding hands as far as you can tell
And to put it plainly you would like to have us try it
Make this something more
It's something you would like as well
So you've laid it on the line
It'd be a rotten dirty thing to leave you
Hanging on a string
When you've said exactly how you feel
Now I feel confident about many things but when it
Comes to this I'm afraid to admit I know nothing at all
And what you suggest is more than a little bit frightening
Because I don't want to risk
I'm not ready for that fall
But you've laid yourself out on the line
It'd be a rotten dirty thing to leave you
Hanging on a string
When I know exactly how you feel
I could just tell you I feel exactly how you feel

Or not to ship?

Quote
My Nice-Friend Face
You were the one who wanted this from the start
You offered me your ring before I offered my heart
You have yourself convinced that I am what you need
Who knew you'd have us figured out
Before you talked to me?
I tried not to lead you on but my best just shines
When I put my nice-friend face on
It's a mess, you think too much of me I guess
Now I'm the one who has to lay it out
And let you down easy
May I remind you that I never said one darn thing
That I thought would get this into your head
But it's there, now you are smitten hands down
And I'm the best to blame
Because I'm just nice from the get-go
I tried not to lead you on
But you misread me
And I mistakenly smiled for too long
It's a mess, you think too much of me I guess
Now I'm the one who has to lay it out
I'm the one who has to clear it up
And let you down easy

I figured I'd bump this thread.

The first chorus of "Sk8er Boi" by Avril Lavigne (I do listen to Avril, but it's really not her best work...it's quite overrated.) reminds me of Leela's constant rejection of Fry...granted, Fry's not a "skater boy", but it still works.
He was a skater boy
She said, "See ya later, boy"
He wasn't good enough for her
She had a pretty face
But her head was up in space
She needed to come back down to earth...

"My Immortal" by Evanescence reminds me of Leela's thoughts during The Sting.
I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have
All of me

You used to captivate me
By your resonating life
Now I'm bound by the life you've left behind
Your face it haunts
My once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away
All the sanity in me

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me
I've been alone all along

And...that's it, for now.

I know what makes me think of Hermes; "Babylon" by Skindred.  :D Queensryche's "One And Only" has always reminded me of Leela, as well as "A Stranger" by A Perfect Circle. For Fry, all I think of is "Spoonman" by Soundgarden. Hmmm....

Thank god someone bumped this thread. I've searched for this before, but could never find it.

Summercamp's Nowhere Near reminds me of Fry and Leela.

I dont dont wanna waste your time
Make you hang around thinking you've done wrong
You can only wait for me so long
But I aint coming over proving nothing
Cause I know its always something
And how you value Your time alone

So I'm out of here
'Cause I know I'm nowhere near
What you want, What you want, What your lookin for

I dont wanna make you smile
Only to see it turn all around
When you decide I've just let you down
I aint makin up my mind just yet
How easy I forget
Just how you add to my confusion

So I'm out of here
Cause I know I'm nowhere near
What you want, What you want, What your lookin for.

If I'm breakin your heart
You'll always know where mine got its start
I'ts better like this anyway
If your world is fallen apart
Maybe youl find me in the dark
Searching for the right thing to say

I dont wanna waste your time
Make you hang around thinking you've done wrong
You can only wait for me so long

So Im out of here
Cuase I know Im nowhere near
What you want, What you want, What your looking for,
What you want, What you want, What your looking for,
What you want, What you want, What your looking for,

A Perfect Circle "3 Libras":

Threw you the obvious
And you flew with it on your back
A name in your recollection
Down among a million same

Difficult not to feel a little bit...
Disappointed, and passed over
But I look in your eyes and through
See you naked but oblivious

But you don't see me...

"Falling for the First Time" By Barenaked Ladies

This Part Reminds me of Fry

Quote
I'm so cool, too bad I'm a loser
I'm so smart,
too bad I can't get anything figured out
I'm so brave, too bad I'm a baby
I'm so fly, that's probably why it
Feels just like I'm falling for the first time
I'm so green, it's really amazing
I'm so clean, too bad I can't get all the dirt off of me.
I'm so sane, it's driving me crazy
It's so strange, I can't believe it
Feels just like I'm falling for the first

This part reminds me of Zapp sorta.  Everyone thought he was amazing and perfect, but he wasent.  Also of Fry in TDHAIPT because it seems that until the end he loses sight as to why he started playing in the first place

Quote
Anyone perfect must be lying, anything easy has its cost
Anyone plain can be lovely, anyone loved can be lost
What if I lost my direction? What if I lost sense of time?
What if I nursed this infection? Maybe the worst is behind
It feels just like I'm falling for the first time
It feels just like I'm falling for the first time

The new Lifehouse song reminds me of Fry and Leela:

"You And Me"

What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

All of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You've got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

There's something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you
and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

What day is it?
And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
