The character of Zap Brannigan was created specifically for Phil Hartman. He was never able to voice the character as his life was cut short. I was wondering what others thought of the job that Billy West has done with the character. Having never heard Hartman do the voice it is hard to imagine any other voice coming from Brannigan. The only thing that I could figure would be a cross between Lyle Lanley and Troy McClure but heavy on the Lyle Lanley side with that snake oil salesman charm and just a hint of the Troy McClure smarm.
What do others think?

Just a new I heard

I think Billy's doing a terrific job. He does four regular voices plus lots of side characters, each completely unique.

When I think of Phil Hartman doing Zapp's voice, I can't really see it.  I think Billy West's a better fit.  Although it must be funny playing two of Leela's "love interests".  love

It's hard when you not only miss the person, but also his/her voice.

I didn't like Zapp's voice at first. I don't love it now, but it doesn't bother me like it used to.

It's just too much like Phil Hartman. I know the character was created with Phil in mind, but still, I think Billy West should have gone in a different direction than doing a crappy Phil Hartman imitation. He could have gone more Shatnerey and it would have been just as funny.
