Hi all. This is my first post on this forum so go easy if I look stupid.

OK, on the Episode 'Fry and the Slurm Factory, when Bender and Fry are looking round the shop when they have the XRay flashlight, for a split second, Bender is shining the flashlight at some sausages. Thinking they looked a little odd, I paused it and discovered that the sausages have the Alien language written on (or rather, inside) them.

Does anyone know what the sausages say?

Welcome to the World of Peel!

The rm file I got of that episode is of a lowest quality so that I cannot see nothing, I can't. Maybe you can post a screenshot of it.

Otherwise there is a translator for both alien languages at http://www.gotfuturama.com  . You could try that one out.

greetings

Problem is, on my TV (a tiny little 15" affair  :() it's too difficult to make out. I was hoping someone with a bigger TV or a computer to play it on could help me out.

Did you think of these sausages?

I'm not sure if it is an Alien Language at all, you can harldy see these signs.

Welcome to Peel boggy b    :)

You might like to read this faq. It's very helpfull to get along with some rules Peel has and to learn how to use the UBB-codes.

Enjoy yourself here, it's where the nerds stay!

edited for spelling. If you find other spelling errors you are allowed to keep them   ;)

Either that or really really big bacteria.

On "Fear Of A Bot Planet" Zoidberg says he wants something crawling with parasites and then you see they're all eating hot dogs, so those things could be parasites. Welcome to PEEL, boggy b.  :)

I don't think they are parasites.  I does look like writing of some type.  Maybe it is ancient Egyptian or it is just to blury for us to read.

In 'A fishful of Dollars' someone says that the TVs in the 20th century had a lousy low definition. I guess that's our problem..

I've (jealously) read that you in the US have HD TV. Do they broadcast Futurama in 'better resolution than real life'? Is it sharper than a DVD then?

Can't you play Futurama DVDs back in HDTV anyway?

Well, by 'you' I mean someone with an HDTV.

I remember pausing to see what was in those sausages too.... I figured rats or rat fecies.....  But it's mysterious that it seems like it is something and yet not discernibly something.

HD means High Definition like (max) 1920*1280. DVD Pal is 720*576... you can see the difference. If you play a DVD on an HD-compatible TV it won't change anything, cause the source has a low resolution. But if they broadcasted Futurama in HD the image should contain much more details, like the sausage writings..

If you once saw HDTV you want nothing else...

It could just be part of another alien alphabet that the creators were planning on slowly introducing into Futurama, but the show was cancelled before they got the whole alphabet or developed it enough... or they put it there and forgot about it.

Quite a bit of it looks like alien language 1.

Unlikely since this was in season 1. There was plenty of time to develop the language - indeed AL2 wasn't featured until quite a while after this.

There are quite a number of "alien symbols" in Futurama that don't mean anything, the throne room in MTS being a good example of this.

Wasn't it in season 2? Or did I stroke off there for a second.

It was in production season 1, and broadcast season 2.

But the first instance of Alien Language appeared in  "A Bicyclops built for Two" according  to the commentaries (it's on the door of the chatrooms.) So if that is, infact alien Language, then it's going to be AL1.

I'll clear this up for you, I chose Rage Dump as my name here, because i was at a transitional stage between the name Potato Handle and Boggy B.
Since i couldn't make up my mind which to use for PEEL, I chose something more relevant, Rage Dump.
Since then, I've made a full transition to Boggy B, and i use it every where i go, Jump into the chatroom and you'll probably find me there one day. (Just don't come in as BoggyB   :p )

Incidentally, it's good to see another Worms fan around, welcome to PEEL   :)

On topic, Jicannon is on the ball, The Simpsons was always cracking jokes at the poor quality of sausages, or hotdogs, so i'd say they're just blemishes, or objects inside the hotdogs...

In the picture that germanfryfan posted ealier, I think I saw the letter "T" in the middle sausage in the first alien language. I think that's just a coincidence because none of the rest of those squiggles resemble anything like the first alien language.
