If Amy's rich than why was the PE always concerned about money.  In Bender Gets Made, they are given a huge bill and say they couldn't pay it.  Why didn't Amy just take care of the bill?

In Futurestock, why are they concerned about going bankrupt, if Amy's loaded.  She even said, "I'm sligthly richer!" when her stocks said she was a millionaire.

In Issue 5 of the Futurama comic book, the PE crew needs to make million dollars or they lose the company.  Once again Amy could step in and save the day, but doesn't.

You think she wants to spend any of that money on an internship she landed at a crummy delivery company owned by a crackpot old man?

Besides, its funnier when they get bailed out in some crazy way.

She spend $80,000 on a car that originally was $50,000 on PYHOMS.  She's not good managing her money.  I just wish she used it to her advantage.  You think she could have at least pay for her food in Bender Gets Made.

I still Love her anyway, to the extent a person can love an animated character which is still considered healthy

Yes that probably explains it, she is rather terrible at money management, plus, she buys corrupt help.

In one of the comics, her PDA was embezzling from PE.

Well, the good point is that Amy wouldn't be spending her money on PE, let alone something like Bender's bail fund! (think Fishful of dollars) So that's basically the reason.

Perhaps Amy doesn't have access to the money.  Her parents were the one that paid for the car, and that was the only major purchase that I can think of.  If she depends on her parents for financial purposes (until she gets married, knowing Inez and Leo), she would need to go through them for any major expenditures.  Do you think the ranchers Wong will bail out her loser friends?

I thought it was Billionaire Trust Fund (this is from PYHOMS, right?).

The trust fund idea makes sense. Remember Xmas story, where Amy was poorer than Zoidberg?

Do you see a purse?  Or anywhere to put a wallet, other than nature's pocket?

Haha  :laff:

My guess would be that the creators didn't want to mention it because it would upset the initial story/plot.
On the other hand, there could be a hidden sub-plot in which her parents won't give her any hand outs because as with most rich people, they're tight wads.

More likely until she produce a grand child.

But yeah, I agree Leo and Inez most likely have her money locked away in a trust fun, which give her a monthly payout to cover her expenses. And that appartment looked pretty expensive, as does her wardrobe (not the everyday tracksuit, but her galla dress' and junk) and stuff, plus it could be at the end of a month.

I know a place where a credit car could easily be kept, and that dress is made for easy access to that area.

surely everybody knows someone whos loaded but every time you get inot trouble you dont just ask for money. maybe you do, maybe thats why you havent got many rich mates. besides amys a student a teachers hardly likely to ask a student to bail him out. ALSO amy isnt rich at all her parents are.

I see two typos in Teral's post that just make it hilarious.

"Is that a credit car in your dress or are you just happy to see me?"

"We put the fun in trust fund"

Do we ever see Amy's pocket? It magically appears and disappears in TSHL.

Sweatshirts are made for pockets.  Form-hugging dresses are not.

Can't you make bank transactions in the future using just your retinal map or colonic scan?  Amy could have paid thuslywise to get out of being arrested.  Maybe she refused on principle.  Rich kids are often like that, willing to go to jail over issues like saving the rainforest and, in a word, whatnot.

The Futurestock bit I think is less of an issue, because if I had a billion dollars, I wouldn't sink it into a crappy delivery company I don't really need.

i always wondered why in Bendin In The Wind after they lost all of their cash why didn't they just go to the atm. I can see Fry and Zoidberg not having access to an atm but not Amy or Leela.

I think that the main reason that Amy doesn't give them money is this: without the struggle and need for money, the afore mentioned episodes would be boring. I mean, almost everyone can relate to having some kind of money trouble. If the Planet Express crew simply got all of their money from the rich intern, we couldn't relate to that aspect of the show anymore.

"We're not as rich as everyone thinks."

There you go, the reason Amy doesn't go around spending all her money. She doesn't want people to know.

If Amy had money then she would have been able to buy both on her own. That's my thinking.

Then again, early on in the season (TSHL) she had enough money to buy hundreds of games on the claw machine. I suppose that's just small change/they hadn't worked out that she was rich by then (Her wealth wasn't mentioned until Mars University, was it?)

"Wait a minute, Amy Wong? Of the Mars Wongs?"
"We're not as rich as everyone says"
"Oh yeah? What sorority do you belong to?"
"Kappa Kappa Wong..."

It was mentioned right at her entrance.

Hey! 'ubergeeks' is such a strong word! We prefer the term 'losers with nothing better to do'.

Actually, TheLampIncident brings up a good point. Perhaps the Wongs aren't all that rich. But then again, how could they own so much of Mars, a large buggalo herd and a spacious estate?

I think the "we're not as rich as everyone thinks" is completely invalidated by the fact that they have their own sorority.

Still you think, I wish Futurama provided a more information to why she couldn't step in with her money.  In Bendin' in the Wind, Amy money was ruined in the wash, which is explains why she along with Fry Leela and Zoidberg were pour throughout the tour.

Well Amy isn't really the sharing caring type of character so she probably wouldn't want to spend her money for the other characters misfortunes. Also maybe her parents forbid her to spend their fortune on her "weirdo" co-workers

Amy's parents probably have Amy's money, after all, they paid for the car in PYHOMS.

Or, The writers didn't want that to happen  because it is funnier when they somehow get away with stuff using stuff other than money.

I agree with dimension_8, Amy is greedy....plus she's a little ditzy and wouldn't think of paying off the bills herself.
