According to the Branigan Begins Again audio commentary,Zapp was supposed to get fatter every scene he appearied in,but they quit after they got disgusted after they did it in Loves Labour Lost In Space. So,if they didn't chiken out,how fat would he be now?

...Probably some fraction of the size Bender was in the "I Meatbag" portion of "AOI II" I guess... except that was REALLY fat. We saw how fat he got WITHOUT his girdle... scary.

What they meant was that he would start each episode at his normal weight and then slowly get fatter as the episode progressed. So he wouldn't be that much fatter than at the end of "Love's Labors Lost in Space".

I think that the entire concept would have been difficult to maintain on a regular basis, unless what the producers meant was for him to get fatter by the end of "Love's Labors Lost in Space" and then keep that weight for the rest of the series.

not really a realistic approach i figure, would just be too much abstract craziness, like in family guy or what have you. after seeing it every episode would just get slightly old and ridiculous all around.

True story: William Shatner had a tendency to put on weight back when the original Star Trek was being produced. He'd get fatter and fatter until the middle of the season, then go on a crash diet and be back to his original weight at the end of the season. Having Zapp get fatter throughout the episode could be a reference to that.
