Are all the beercans in the future made out of titanium? I seem to recall someone saying "Robots are made out of recycled beer cans" and later on Bender's body i smade out of titanium, so it follows that futuristic beer cans are made out of titanium. What does everyone else think of this theory?

Yeah, but it's a bit of a weird question, isn't it? It was probably just discontinuity (sp?). This ought to be in the weird scenes section, er, hadron head.

Bender isn't 100% beer cans, Bender is composed:

40% Zinc
40% Titanium
20% recicled beer cans (probably alminium)

But the question is... why when Bender doesn't drink, his mouth gets like Iron oxide, with the caracteristic orange color?

If he's made by aluminium, he can't oxidize without alcohol... and if he's made by Zinc or Titanium, the oxide in his mouth must be white... (those materials get this color when oxidize)

Sorry for the bad spelling  smile

Choose one:

A. Because it's funny.
B. Due to a molectular instability in his compositional matrix, the area around his mouth has been affected by muon radiation distortion, causing an alteration in subspace field harmonics that has altered its molecular structure, causing spontaneous transmutation of the free radical ions in the alloy, resulting in the phenomenon known as "rust".

Actually bender isnt made exactly 40-40-20
There is a small amount of iron in his body just for that 5 o clock rust

If robots are made out of recycled beer cans, and beer cans are made out of recycled robots, and the average robot consists of approximatley 40% titanium, then there would have to be a certain percentage of titanum in beer cans. (phew, long sentence)

Perhaps theres iron in the 20% unknown, and the iron is best used in the mouth area (for strength). The beer acts as a fuel for his cells, and if he doesn't get enough, his body can't resist the oxidization that occurs in said region. Therefore, he needs all the beer he can get.

Iron or steel has to be a considerable part of Bender's body, otherwise the magnets in "The Series Has Landed" couldn't stick to it.

Maybe he is steel plated, you know? like a stainless steel coating that will protect him from ever looking dull, stained, scratched and uncared for?

Maybe he is like, 40% Titanium, 40% Zinc-ish stuff with bits of Iron in, and 20% Unknown metal which is probably Iron that nobody could be bothered to test for.

I think possibly the inonised atoms in Benders circular structure could reinforce the stability of the neutrons in the other metals causing a catch in the nucleonic field (this could explain the magnets sticking to him [study nuclear fusion, try getting the book Altrumar's Guide to Nucleonic Staging:Volume III])  The rust though is very hard to explain unless Titanium of the future had extra properties.  It was once stated that it was possibly to disolve the iregonic acids in Titanium that would give it some values of Iron, but you'd have to study further into that to see if its really a possibility.

To those whom I have loved...

You do it right, shouldn't make much of a difference if it's titanium or aluminum.

It's naive to assume that Bender's body is a solid solution.  Even if his body had constant concentrations of the metals, we must concede that there may be iron in the interstitial lattice sites causing the rusting.  Also (in regards to the initial question), it's certainly not impossible to separate components of alloys in order for them to be recycled.  You should read a phase diagram sometime.

That was certainly not BS.  Metallurgy (a part of Materials Science and Engineering) is what I've been studying for a long time.
