How come in the first episode Fry lost the video game he was playing, but in later episodes he got better and better at them?
Fry's always said he was better at video games than anything else in AOI 2.

Just because you're good at video games doesn't mean you win all the time.

Shouldn't this be in Human Rescources?

But it baffles and confuses me that he uses the ULTIMATE n00b strategy: Shooting throught your own shields. And he is unable to get the last ship every time... And Space Invaders is the most simple of all games (almost).

Did it ever occur to you that Fry might've been lying? That maybe he thinks just because he plays computer games a lot that he's good at them?  cool

Just like the young snots who falme people and call them "L4m3 n00bz0rz" even though you just creamed their asses 16373-3 in Halo? "I opened the can o' whoop ass for YOU, my friend- Who's the noob?" And those kids are the same who sit on their asses and play until their fingers are worn down all the way to the elbows...

Bicyclops Built For Two, and he's really good in that too. Not a traditional computer game, but that's what it is called.

Hmmm... the obvouis one: SP3K. He plays "Monkey Fracas Jr." which is a mixture of Donkey Kong (Jr.?) and MANY sapce shoot 'em ups. And in that one he also sucks out loud. Anybody could dodge those barrels.

Heh, I almost expected him to say "oldest trick in the book" when he started doing that.

Fry also plays videogames in "Bender Should Not Be Allowed On TV", although very nonchalant.

When Dwight, Tinny Tim and Cubert steal Bender's stuff, Fry is on the couch playing videogames with one hand and drinking beer while reading Astro Boy with the other.

"Hey, Bender ... hey, Bender ... hey, Bender."

The more you play a video game the better you get at the video game!

Need I say more?

maybe he's better at modern videogames than the ones from our time. I remember it took me quite awhile to finish C&C 1, but red alert 2 took me less than a week playing 4 hours a day. Videogames seem to be getting more easy with time.

Who here can say they are great at a certain game ALL the time? In SP3000 he might have just been playing bad.

Obviously I hadn't played it. I wasn't saying the game was easy at all, I was just pointing out that even the best gamers have bad days.

So, in conclusion, Fry was good at video games even in the first episode.  That kid was just being a jerk.

Or email me, maybe?

If you check out either the script or the animatic (can't remember which) for SP3000, the kid's original line was something like: "My grandmother got past that monkey, and she thought this was a cigarette machine". So he probably did suck big time at Monkey Fracas Jr. Sorry if I got it wrong  smile
