In episode 3ACV03 when Free Waterfall Senior tells everyone to check their riffles one of the guys checking their riffles is Scruffy the Janitor!

I noticed that too, I guess there's a lot of things we don't know about Scruffy, and thanx to Fox, never will...

I never saw that. Good spot. That does make Scruffy more mysterious. I thought he was just a janitor.

He probably has a life outside his job, however 'entertaining' his job may be... or he went along with Leela for something to do.

Is this the shot in question?

Interesting.... I bet Scruffy's some sort of undercover penguin spy!   :p

Or perhaps he's just a man who happens to have a similar moustache to Scruffy?

Does his voice (he's the guy saying 'Weee doggy!') actually sound like Scruffy's? I'm not too sure, it's sounds too high, not as gruff as Scruffy. I guess it's an open question.

Scruffy would sound more like "wee dough-gy." If you think about his accent he has that way of saying words. It's hard to explain but I hope you understand the point I'm trying to make.

One could argue that Scruffy would have recognised Leela or the other way around but neither of them know who each other is so that idea is out the window!

EDIT: Or maybe he would say "wee daw-gy."

"I've never seen him like this, or ever before." Scruffy has a lousy memory for faces.

It was discussed in the commentaries that Sal could be a clone (or just have a lot of jobs).  If he is a clone, it could be that there are also Scruffy clones too.  Heck, maybe Farnsworth has many of them around, or they get used up quickly.

Ooh after seeing the shot it makes it even more of a mystery! Awsome, I never noticed it. That's a nice hat he has there. And a nice gun.

Maybe Scruffy just really cares about penguins.  Or the possibility of shooting them.
