The simpsons was a TV programme in futurama possibly?

I believe MG (or someone connected with the show) summed it thus:

Quote
The Simpsons is a TV show, Futurama is real.

 ;)

In other words, Goldfish is right - The Simpsons is a TV show in the world of Futurama (and apparently was still being produced in 3000, although of course that's just a joke). So it's not canon for Futurama characters to appear in The Simpsons world.

Another, more serious reason is that the creators of Futurama are averse to crossovers, and prefer to keep the two shows seperate.

Of course, this doesn't stop "Futurama" appearing on Uder's t-shirt in one of the earlier Simpsons eps, or Fry appearing in one of The Simpsons' couch gags.

Fry shows up in the couch gag for "HOMR".

Bender has another cameo in Bart's halucination in "Bart vs. Lisa vs. the Third Grade".

At the beginning of the episode HOMR (crayon in brain episode) Fry comes out of a tube in the beginning, then is sucked back up and replaced by Bart... I thought it was vaguely amusing.

OK, the in the house where Fry gives his holophoner recital is most definately the Simpsons living room.

Does anybody have a shot from "The P.J.s" where you can see Fry on a milk-carton?

It's odd how Bender appeared on "Bart vs. Lisa vs. the third grade" because Bart was dreaming about watching tv and using a remote control... And you say Simpsons is tv and Futurama is real (its obviously the other way around, hehe)......

I've never seen the uter shirt, but everyone talks about it  :(

And on that episode "Missionary Impossible" a lot of Fox cartoon characters are in the background, including the PJ's Guy, Hank Hill, and they make a reference to Family Guy....

One more thing....

One more ting....

Cribmunkee: They do. Look at Chump's "SimpRama" link almost at the top of the topic... Not very often, but it happens. And the one with Bender receiving calls and the "Fry instead of Bart" one are also mentioned on that page...

Yes, Devon LoParo, it HAS been said a bunch of times... You'll just have to pray that mine will be the last... Muahahahaaa!!
But it IS Futurama that is real. It is said on the season one DVD commentary... That's why there are only dolls, pictures, etc. of The Simpsons in Futurama... The Simpsons are apparently still being produced in year 3000... Can't explain the Futurama characters in The Simpsons though...

Also, in one 'Simpsons' episode where the family vists a video store, you can see a 'Futurama' poster on the wall. (I can't remember the episode, though...)

It's in Season 15's "Catch 'Em If You Can". Marge holds up a video tape, and in the background there's the Futurama poster. The only problem is Futurama is meant to be us in a thousand years and The Simpsons is meant to be a fictional show that us and the people of the future would watch, so it's actually quite illogical. When you get down to that though...It's a FREAKING TV SHOW!

Also, in "Future-Drama" (Season 16) Bart and Homer drive through a tunnel and when they come out Bender is sitting in the car and says "All right, you two are my new best friends" (and was still voiced by John Dimaggio). Homer throws him out the car, says "you wish loser" and the shot ends with Bander falling into pieces on the road.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I forget which episode but it was copyrighted in 1998 and the Simpons got to a science fiction convention and that little German exchange student is wearing a Futurama T-Shirt.

It's just a plain white shirt saying "Futurama" in the Futurama font. A little easter egg Matt layed in the episode to give viewers a hint of the future.

(sorry for the pun: "A little easter egg Matt layed..." )

The Simpsons is a TV show in Futurama's universe.

Futurama is a TV show in the Simpsons' universe.

Xanfor, you rock.  Thanks to that link, I have finally seen most of the things I wanted to see... now if I could just track down a pic of Fry on the milk carton, I could die happy. (The one I found searching old PEEL topics had only a dead image link...  :(  )

Yes, Fry was in an episode of The P.J.s on a milk carton.  I would like to see a picture of it, myself.  Once I was waiting for The Simpsons to be over so I can watch Futurama and Family Guy there was an episode where Lisa becomes president and Bart is a struggling musician.  I saw a part where Bart puts a gun up to his head and it was really a lottery gun so he could see the numbers in his head.  Used later in a Futurama episode where Farnsworth uses something similiar.

It's Uter, the German exchange student. The episode is Season 10's "Mayored To The Mob" (episode AABF05).

Also, not having a go at anyone or anything, but just because we see Futurama in the Simpsons or The Simpsons in Futurama doesn't mean MATT has put them there. There's about 15 staff working on each script (but the one who wrote the original script before it got fixed up is credited as the actual writer). It could have been ANY of the writing staff on the show.

Hey, I just took a look at Fry coming out of the tube in that 'Simpsons' couch gag... Did anyone notice that he's yellow? Or is that just the color on my end messed up?

Yeah, well, maybe I'm just not good at noticing details. You know, I wasn't a huge 'Futurama' fan until after I had been watching the show for a while (after the shippyer episodes started), and to tell you the truth, it took me three episodes to realize they weren't yellow (which probably wasn't my fault, I was watching it on a B&W TV), the same number to realize the color of Leela's hair, and four episodes to realize that Leela was a cyclops.

Black and white TV, everyone! I could still hear the sounds. Just counting eyes that I had no idea would have been counted abnormally had I counted them was an idea that didn't cross my mind. Like I said, once I got rid of the 3-inch screen and moved my viewing time to something a little less '...yawn'.  ;)

Bender22, you rock! You've got that poster and many, many other references I missed. Including that Treehouse of Horror where the credits said "David 'Watch Futurama' Cohen"! Everyone, check those sites out!

Examples:

Look closely at this one and you'll see a picture of Homer on Bender's sash. (Click here for a full sized version:  http://usuarios.lycos.es/bbrp/crossover/SF_1ACV07_1.jpg )

Look at the small heart on the wall to see 'H. S. + M. B.'. (Full sized version:  http://usuarios.lycos.es/bbrp/crossover/SF_1ACV09_1.jpg )

These are only some. There are also more episode references, and many, many sights of 'Futurama' characters in the 'Simpsons' comics, and vice versa!
