Hi all
Well, the Futurama cuts from a bygone age - 2001 - are finally going onto my site.
If anyone remembers any cuts that I didn't put on the site, feel free to add them here so I can put them on futurama_cuts (you'll receive credit, you know. Not the money kind, but still...)
Go to www.geocities.com/futurama_cuts/Season1 for the index of season 1 cuts so far.
Back then, of course, Channel 4 weren't sure about the content of Futurama so might not have cut out some things that they would later find offensive, like Bender saying 'ass'.
As I said, if I missed anything, this is the place to put it.

Hell is Other Robots: (from memory)

When Fender jacks on for the first time we see him insert the jack, then immediately unplug it, cutting the whole 'trip' as it were. Strangely they left in Bender's entire later trip with the electric eel and stuff.

Bender: Hey, do I talk to you when you're lying soned in the gutter, no!

I'm pretty sure there's more too, but it was ages ago I saw the ep.

Thanks - I've got that already, but haven't put it on the site yet. But watch this space.

When PX go to Monument Beach, Zoidberg has just been helped out of a fishing trap by Bender when searchlights shine on them and an alarm goes off
BENDER     Cheese it!
(did they get chased? We don't see them after that, and the scene doesn't seem to lead anywhere)

The joke was just Bender and Zoidberg running away very slowly. There was no extra scene on the DVD so the scene ended there.

I'm not sure - was it just a US Cartoon Network cut? Because the site's more about UK cuts really.
I'll see if I can get round to it first.

Oh yeah, in Space Pilot 3000, where "JFK Junior Airport' was replaced by "Mutant City Radio Hall", but that cut also affected UK showings of Futurama, whereas the CN "Zombie Jesus" cut was only in America.
I'm just trying to get the season 1 cuts up now, but I'll try to mention it on the site at least. Which episode was it in?

it affected UK showings? that blows. Family Guy's JFK edit sure didn't.

well, it was in 2 episodes. The Deep South and Bender Gets Made. At the time in each episode where the professor says something about zombie Jesus, the name Jesus gets dumped from the audio.

Thanks lfv: they're now mentioned on Bender Gets Made and The Deep South.
And also, the Season 1 cuts are now up, or at least what I've been able to put together. Any help appreciated!

I can definitely remember one of Channel 4's showings of Space Pilot 3000 cutting the joke:

(in the Hall of Criminals)
Bender: You're full of crap, Fry!
*turns into the lightbulb, gets shocked*

To give the impression that "You make a persuasive argument, Fry!" was Bender's initial response. Clever editing. Unneccesary, but clever.

Definate Ch4 cuts for My Three Suns

Porno overdubbed with second uh.

     Fry: Hey, whatcha' watching?
  Bender: [apprehensive]  Nothing!
Leela: Is that a cooking show?
Bender: No, of course not.  It was ... uh ... porno!  Yeah, that's it.

-----
All of this scene after the establishing shot of  Little Neptune was cut.

Fry: So, this is Little Neptune?
Bender: Yep.  Every chef knows this ...
...
The junkie cries for the machine not to hold out on him like this, but it's no use, and he slinks down to the floor in anguish.

-----
Bender: Man, I guess it's harder than I thought to make someone cry.
Amy: You did your best, Bender.
    Bender: Up yours, bimbo!!!
              [Amy runs off crying]

Not to be nitpicky, but in Bender gets Made Professor says "Holy zombie Jesus!" instead of "Sweet zombie Jesus!" which he says in Deep South. i wonder if the Futurama crew had any other renditions of that phrase they were thinking of using? (like Good zombie Jesus! or Mother of zombie Jesus!)

FUN FACT: A Futurama layout artist quit the show after being offended by Zoidberg as Jesus.

I bet it would've been ok if a human character had dressed as jesus like so many movies and plays, but a crustacean? Of course not. Racism!!! (Speciesism?......Phylumism?!)

So I'm to understand that in the UK, they cut just about every mention of porno and the word "crap?" Why? "Crap" isn't even a swear word at all in most of the U.S... kindergarteners can get away with saying it.

Course I guess it goes both ways. In other regions a certain word beginning with the letter "C" (and NOT "crap" ) is hardly worse than the F-word, and frequent in movies. Here in america, that word isn't even in the most hardcore R rated films. It's considered so noxious, so unspeakably evil, so diabolically abominable, that most americans don't even know it exists!

Scythemantis, You're totally right about that certain C word.  It makes being called "the devil" look like child's play.

Thanks margarita!

...As far as most americans are concerned, the devil wouldn't say that word either.

Allright someone was nice enough to send me an email and satisfy my curiousity...though I was pretty sure what the "C" word was, I just had to be sure.  As for why some cuntries would find it acceptable and some wouldn't, all I can say is...huh, I can't say anything.  Thanks Jonathon W.
