Naw, I find aliens sexxier than mutants plus they could have got a lot more stories if she was an alien but I guess that doesn't mateer cos Fox are cancelling the show anyways DIE FOX DIE!!!!

I was disappointed.  I thought the fact that she was an alien made her cool.

I've said it so many times, but I'll gladly do it again: making Leela find out of her heritage so early in the series was a bad move. They never touched upon her search for her people, except for half of "A Bicyclops Built For Two". There is so much potential storylines lost in that.

Furthermore it's anti-climatic to the entire build-up to find out she was a mutant. After 3 seasons of "alien orphan"-builduċ I expected something grand, mesmerising, a tour-de-force.

The episode itself was good, and incredible cute, particular those last 2 minutes. It's the timing and the result I object to.

And I agree with wanker, "sexy alien babe" has a much nicer ring to it than "sexy mutant babe". Well, to me she is still a sexy alien{ babe.

And I blame the evil FOX execs. BTW, welcome to PEEL, Evil FOX Exec.  Enjoy it here. I admire your courage.  ;)

If FOX don't renew Futurama, and the rest of the DVDs stick to production order, won't "Leela's Homewold" be fairly late on in the series?

I think the threat of cancalletion might have forced Matt Groening to show his hand earlier than he otherwise would have.  Imagine if they hadn't made "Leela's Homeworld", and then FOX placed the show on hiatus.  We'd all be bitching that we never got to find out the truth about Leela's origins.

In the coming months we may find the same is true of "The Why of Fry" and "The Devil's Hands..." - that they're quick wrap-ups to outstanding storylines.

As for Leela's being a mutant, it doesn't matter to me; she's still the cutest chick on TV!

First: No, "Leela's Homeworld" would still be a mid-season 4 episode, with hardly any episodes devoted to the search-for-her-heritage thing before. Mid-season 4 is too early to wrap up such a huge part of a character, IMHO.

The script to LH was written around spring 2001, or earlier. The script HJS won said it was from 3/2-2001. Way before the hiatus-thing.

I stand to be corrected on this point, but various websites I visited in 2001 gave the impression that Futurama was in serious trouble long before it was actually put on hiatus.
