In Kif gets knocked up a knotch, Kifs says that Amy is his Smizmah, the person who put him into his "receptive" state.

But in the season2 episode "Raging Bender" the referee, greets "Ladies and gentlemen and Smizmahs"

WTF?

why would the ref be greeting smizmahs?

Someone on the Futurama team seems to like this word Smizmah!

A) The word in KGJUaN was "Smizma[/b]r[/b]."

B) I don't have a second point.

Also, "Smission" (one of Bender's senses) sounds sort of similar to this word. It must be the end of the world as we know it!

I always thought that that "smision" sense of Bender's was some shortened form of of the word "smell-o-vision".  Ah well, who knows.

I don't know why. Maybe it was ladies night at the arena. Also, welcome, Evil FOX Exec! Cool name.

Thanks, Shadowstar!  I was actually surprised that no one came up with that profile name before me  :).

Anyway, is there a possibility that Smizma is Yiddish?  I dunno, but, phonetically speaking, it just sounds like Yiddish to me, but I'm probably wrong.

It's not.

Yeah, I figured it wasn't, it was just a thought  :).  Probably, it's just some reference to some obscure sci-fi TV show or movie.

Well, Googling for:

* smismar
* smizmar
* smismah
* smizmah

returns nothing but Futurama references, mostly PEEL threads. So unless they did that Nigel 7/Rigel 7 type thing again, no to that one too.

Kryten: Do you know Yiddish?

tukhes oyfn tisch putz, smizmah is dreck, it's made up, admittededly I thought of the Yiddish word shikse, which if that was right would've broken the whole mystery wide open, but it's pronounced differently than I thought. Oy vey ismier I bin a der shoyte, vay iz meer.

Ok , I'm a bit of a show-off when it comes to speaking in other languages, so sue me.
