How long do robot high school and robot college take?  They probably don't have to actually go to classes like humans do.  They could just download the information directly into the robots.  It probably doesn't take all that long.

in bendless love dosn't it show him getting his high school deploma after taking a few seconds to download a bunch of info? i rmember him saying something along the lines of "hurray i graduated! now i can bend around europe for a few years" i know that quote is wrong, someone correct it.

[Leela]CAN DO!!![/Leela]

Bender: "Hooray I graduated!! Time to bend around Europe for a few months, then get a job bending."

His bending education took a total of 5 seconds to complete. He probably set aside 20-25 seconds for his college education, what with Robo-American studies and everything.

Robots probably complete their education as per normal, then after they are all educated-up, they can download their bending software, etc. and they are 0. One year later they are 1. This being due to the fact that a robot is defined by his job (robot is czech for slave) and until fully softwared and educated, they have no career per se just an intended career path.

Damn. I put too much thought into that.

How old would Futurama be when season 5 finishes? I think it started in 98 but I'm not sure.

Depends. The first episod was aired in March 1999, but of course 1st season episodes were created during 1998 and even before that Matt Groening spent different years to ideate the whole thing. I think 1998 should be the official year for Futurama birth.

In fact her does in less than 1 year... at the start of the series he is 2 years old..

he graduated in 5 seconds... surelly he spent a couple of months in the Mars University (because he was a legend) and then he began working...

More evidence that Bender went to high school: In "Hell Is Other Robots" Bender says he hasn't seen Fender since high school.

but, i thought benders head was in a hole for a thousand years? so how could he have gone to college, or even met Fry, infact all the episodes till 'Roswell that ends well' make no sense....   :head explodes:

The "original" Bender and the time travelling Bender existed at the same time.  The time travelling Bender was underground, while the "original" Bender was doing his antics up until he went back in time.  Then later when the crew returned to their own time without him (probably moments after they went back in time)they dug up the time travelling Bender.

Which other Bender?  There were two - the Bender-head that had been sitting in Roswell for a thousand years, and the "new" Bender-head on his body that just rolled off the assembly line.

I thought that the other Bender would have died in the suicide booth. The Bender which was left behind sat through a thousand years in harmony until Fry, Leela and the Proffessor showed up.

March 1999.  The "birth" of a series is the date of it's first airing.  Star Trek first aired in 1966, and 1966 is considered it's "birth" date, although the Jeffrey Hunter episode was made in 1964.

Now let's clear up the Roswell-Bender's head mystery.

According to one of the Futurama histories on CGEF, Bender was assembled in 2997, he got his education, did some bending, decided to commit suicide, than he met Fry on 31/DEC/2999, and the following day they join Planet Express.

In 3002, the PE ship was hurled back in time to 1947, and Bender's head ultimately got detached and buried.  Bender's body was taken with the PE crew in the ship back to 3002, but Bender's head remained buried from 1947 until it was dug up in 3002.

So between 2997 and 3002 the "younger" Bender's head was attached to his body, while the "older" Bender's head was buried in Roswell.  By the time his head was dug up and reattached to his body, the body was 5 years old, but the head was around 1050 years old.

The way I always pictured it was the downloading process that we saw involved some sort of virtual classroom program.  Thus Bender would be "in high school" with some other robots even if that was only for 5 seconds.
