At about 16:40 of the episode, a dog turns up and starts sniffing around a police car, and out of nowhere a police car zooms in and crushes him!
I've every other episode many many times but I've only seen Jurassic Bark once, and listened to the commentary a couple of times. I just hate what happens to the little guy. So when I saw him run over... Ok I yelped.

Anyone else think that was Seymour? It's pretty common to poke at the other animated shows.

Ok, what?

This is Futurama not American Dad, so they are in two different universes. What happens in the American Dad universe has no effect what's so ever in the Futuramaverse. Plus Seymour's fossil or whatever you call it was well intact.

Did the dog look very much like Seymour? Somehow I doubt it, unless they're the same breed.

Yes, that sounds cruel and mean for that to happen to a dog. But let's face it, it happens in real life too, so why can't cartoon do it too? (Despite all the hate mail, they'll get for doing it.)

I think the original poster meant that the character may have been present as a homage, much as Bender was seen in Family Guy. I cannot speak for this particular instance, however.

No, it was not Seymour. The dog on American Dad did look a bit similar but was grey rather than brown. Pretty sure it was meant to be a generic mangy looking dog. See pic below:

Well this is the biggest failed hype ever. Even if AD made a Futurama reference, I HIGHLY doubt it would be something as small as Seymour, he's in like 3 eps... It would be Fry or Bender more likely... :nono:

Haha lilkitten, I was just thinking that. I didn't realize you spammed that much already Danny :laff: Nah I kid....you're great and I love you, but not for another three years I told ya :shifty:

I can see why the original poster thought that, on quick glance it does resemble Seymour being a tired looking, mangy, scrappy dog.

It looks like Seymour’s fossil came alive, then got hurled back in time by it's own gravy train and went on an acid trip until he had partied out and ate too much pizza and then decided a change of career was needed and turned into a fixated pointer dog unable to move no matter what temptations were thrown before him, just waiting to be run over and put out of his misery for he'd chosen the wrong path, but was too frozen like a lollypop to move off it. He waited for the wheel to go round so he could be turned into a fossil again and repeat the same enigmatic process :)...

I am a fan of both shows. I don't think they meant that to be Seymour though.

But Family Guy did have Bender in a couple of their episodes....

Totally not Seymour. Even if he were the right colour, the colour pattern is wrong and the ears and tail are too short.

Agreed. Totally agreed. As first posts go, this is a very good one.

Danny has actually been here for 2 years.

That's not Seymour... he died of old age, and wrong color anyways.  Could be a relative though.

There is precedent for certain other Fox shows to share residence in the same universe as Futurama; the PJs inhabit the same planet as Phillip, for example.... They also both lived in New York at the same when he disappeared through to the other side.

It's interesting if you think about this with universes. Family Guy has already had Bender be a character before, but Futurama has established Family Guy as fiction in BBS. I'm staying on the side of Futurama canon and that it's not the actual Seymour though.

Well, Bender was in the telling of a story in Family Guy, so it could go both ways. Bender is fictional in their world, as they are in Futurama.

No, no, no!

I liked you so far. I respected you, I thought you were a good man. But quite frankly I disagree with everything you just said!

It's not Seymour. Different colouration and pattern. Wrong ears and tail.

Why the hell are people watching American Dad anyway?

Because American Dad is actually good.

Either way, it definitely is not Seymour. Aside from the fact that they're both dogs, it doesn't even really look like Seymour.
