Okay, so something occurred to me after mention from my fiancee tonight. Amy's parents hated kif from the moment they met him in "Where the Buggalo Roam." But as my fiancee mentioned, they were actually the ones who introduced them originally in: "A Flight to Remember."  Just another odd one, don't know if anyone ever brought that up before.

They have.
Oh, and the Wong parents are probably getting old.

He was a captain in A flight to remember. Zapp made him captain when he abandoned ship.

After that he was just a lowly fourth lieutenant - and we all know the wongs value status.

What Nutmeg said, plus maybe they simply liked him at first and then... well, he started talking.

All good points. Just wanted to throw that one out there because they said they had instant dislike of him. But the status thing makes sense.

Leo also says he can't force Amy to come with, and in the next moment catch her with a lasso in 6ACV03.

It is normal for Asian parents to prefer their children to go out with people that the parents approve. So the status thing makes sense.

Also her parents reminds me of my dad. My mom on the other hand is a sweet lady who doesn't mind me dating a thug-looking crooked jaw with tattoos all over dude.

I love my Mommy

Yeah, I thought that was weird too. But there are other things like that. For example, almost every time they talk about how Bender was made, he was made a different way.

Amy's parents dislike anyone she chooses to date but are always trying to hook her up with someone.

That's why they're always trying to hook her up.

That's the ironic thing.  Amy's parents hooked her up with Kiff, and now they don't like him.  Leo and Inez want someone who they think is worthy of Amy.  Obviously, they don't think Kiff is.  Maybe Leo and Inez think that they made a mistake hooking her up with Kiff.

No... because when Kif & Amy got together, it wasn't because of her parents.  They're only cool with her dating people they set her up with because they want to control every aspect of her life.... grandchild.

i believe the Czar is right on this one... amy's parents are the kind that are super-controlling... i have a friend who's mom is the exact same way, it's kind of funny there, too... anyway...  that is why amy became the party girl that she was and still is to a lesser degree... and i think we're forgetting about kif and amy's offspring... true they're leela's genetics, but amy's his fonfonroo (spelling?) so they're amy's kids when they come out of the pond. and she'll have to raise them with kif when they come out... unless they all get eaten by that planet's natural predators when they come out...

For parents who are supposed to be super-colliding controlling they seem to leave Amy alone an awful lot.

I thought the same thing whenever I watch WTBR. It has never made sense but I figured that The Wong's may have just forgot about it during a bit of senility!

This is what I always assumed. Amy's parents must be, what, a hundred and twenty? They seem younger than The Professor, but older than what we could consider elderly. It's not outside the realms of possibility that they simply forgot all about it.
