3:16???

I noticed this a while back, in Fear of a Bot Planet during the Blurnsball game there is an alien with a multi couloured wig on holding a sign saying '3:16' as shown here:

Ok, now on the Simpsons, Matt's other show, on the episode Stark Raving Dad when supposedly Micheal Jackson was to appear in Springfield a crowd of people gathered around The Simpsons house waiting for him and a guy in the crowd is again wearing a multi coloured wig and holding a sign saying '3:16' as shown here:

There has to be a reason why Matt included this same reference in both of his shows but I have no idea what it is a reference of and am quite curious to know? Does anyone else know what this reference included means, of '3:16', in both of Matt's shows as I would be glad to know why if anyone does, thanks Peelers???

It was used in Family Guy as well.   

It's a Bible Quote:

   

John 3:16

Wow a very impacting Bible quote there I can see why Matt used it for 'big' occasions such as Micheal Jackson coming to town and a Blurnsball match lol  . You sure know your stuff GFF thanks for the info, much appreciated
