What did that sign say inside the Moon Landing Site when Fry and Leela were inside? I didn't quite catch it.

I checked framegrab, it says, "Lander returned to this site by the Historical Sticklers Society." if thats the sign you were talking about.

Sort of a pre-emptive response to any "historical sticklers" that might have asked why the top half of the lunar lander was still in place.

Doesnt make any sense considering Leela said "It's been lost for centuries" or something along those lines...
You would think with all the technology... meh

no, you misunderstand. the SITE was lost for centuries, but the top half of the lander launched and redocked with the orbital section for return to earth. Right now, irl, there's just the landing section, nothing you could get inside. The historical stickler's society probably returned it back in the 21st or something.

Although, it seems odd that in the 31st century they remember Nixon, Lucy Liu, Bob Barker, Pamela Anderson, Star Trek, and who was the first man on Mars, but not the moon landing  :)

Mostly because those people are still around as heads in jars to remind the world.

They remember the Moon landing, they just forgot the exact coordinates where it happened. Chances are they forgot where the Mars landing took place too.

Kinda like how we knew about the Battle of Teutoburg Forest for 2000 years (  ;) @ Doug), but noone knew anything about the exact location until just recently, when new discoveries helped narrow it down. Thanks to Leela and Fry the Moon landing site has been rediscovered.

Gopher is correct, they talk about it in the commentry.... they used that sign to get out of being historically inaccurate..

yeah, there are other cases of things like that too in the series, they have a knack for preemptively silencing the hard-core nerdlingers who criticize every miniscule deviation from the parts of reality they concider important.

I used to be a pretty serious trek fan, and got onto some ST forums, but what I saw made me afraid, so I ran away. What futurama dorks have that ST dorks lack: a sense of humor!!
