In that one scene where Dr. Zoidberg inslaved everyone on Earth, when Zapp, Kiff, Fry, Bender, and Leela were in that chain gang.  Anyone notice Hermes and Amy weren't in that chain gang?  They should've been there.

Why?

If I enslaved Earth, I couldn't care less about keeping my slaves with their friends. If anything I would go to great lengths to insure all slaves worked with people they've never seen before. People tend to be a lot less prone to plotting insurections when they don't know whom to trust.

Amy and Hermes probably were in some other chain gang.

Well, Amy's a Martian not an Earthican. There's probably a interstellar rule about that when you enslave a planet. Perhaps Hermes actually is a space potato man or, being a bureaucrat, he's helping the enslavers.

Maybe helping. Remember the "spa" that LaBarbara and Hermes went to. He got a single guy to run the place. Dunno about Amy. I'll agree with Futz on this one about her.

I don't know why Hermes isn't on there after all the things he said to him but that's left me out and with Amy being part Mars thing part Human, I guess it counts out. Still no idea about Hermes. Professor's not there because... state the obvious but for now i'll say there in the background.

Hermes knew that Zoidberg would single him out for...special treatment, and ran and hid in the sewers, offering black market office supplies in exchange for shelter and asylum.

Amy jumped in her newest interplanetary car and sped home to Mars where she set about hiring a crack team of mercenaries to launch a daring rescue of her beloved Kif and her coworkers.  The Decapodean invaders were defeated, however, before the crack team's "training montage" was over.

Oh, but what fun is that?

I favor the Hermes-fleeing theory.  I mean, considering how mean he has been to ZOIDberg, if I were he, I would skedaddle quite quickly.

And you know who might help me get off of the planet?  Amy, with her Martian family.  I've always wondered whether there was something going on between Hermes and Amy.  I know, Hermes is married.  So probably not.  But that doesn't mean he can't ask a favor of his subordinate grad student!

Kif is in the military. A high rank in fact, so he is most definatly a citizen. While Amy is a mere intern.

DOOP is more like the U.N. made up of member planets. You are a citizen of the country you come from, not a citizen of the U.N.

What species you are would not mean you are a citizen of a certain planet any more than race means you are a citizen of a specific country today.

Kif would be a combatant if he helped fight the Omicronians. You don't have to be a citizen of a country now to fight with their armed forces.

Some countries today, like the U.S., make it relatively easy to be come a citizen. Some make it very difficult.

Remember Amy and the Native Martians are both Martians. At least until the natives left.
