The PE Ship talks for the first and only time. How come we never hear Leela talk to her any other time to help her avoid bad ships and stuff?

They did make reference to the auto-pilot before.

Leela never talked to 'her' before because up until that episode the ship was male.

its the future, it also doesnt make sense for artificial being to have sexes or feelings, or let alone sex! you have to take it as the joke it is

anyway, it changes female in the ep because the professor puts an upgrade in, that allows people to change the planet express ship's personality
