Bender's name in Japanese wouldn't not be "Benderu". it would be "Bendâ" or "Bendaa". I've been learning Japanese since August of 2004 and I know how the Japanese language works more or less.

A translation joke on a cartoon?! Well, I never!  :rolleyes:

Incase you didn't notice, Koji kept added "aru" to the end of words. It wasn't a translation of Bender's name, and even if it was - I'm sure the Japanese language would've somewhat changed over the next 1000 years anyway.

I don’t think only Japanese can practice karate, although karate is Japanese Martial art. Not everybody fits under the stereotypes of race/nationality.
