Part III - What if Fry never got to the future.

So, if Fry wouldn't freeze, that means he wouldn't defreeze in future and wouldn't meet Bender and Leela AND take them to Professor Farnsworth.

Then why the hell Bender and Leela DO show in the chasm rift??

Because they are what is supposed to happen.
They don't know it, and Fry doesn't know it, but thats what would have happened.

Obviously the Fry/Hawking Hole Theory isn't quite clear.  The hole was not a window into the future, but a window into the past.  The people in the present (the future) were stripped of Fry's presence but not his history as history is generally unchangable.  Thus, they would have no memories of Fry, but the effects of his existence would still be present.  Bender actually destroyed the Universe when he threw his beer bottle throught the hole and sufficiently changed the past to the point where history no longer matched the present.

If you understood this lecture, I'm very proud of you.

A little quote from the TNG episode "Parallels". I'm not one to argue with Data about quantum mechanics, so I'll accpet this as a valid explanation to this oddity. The rift wasn't a time rift, it was a rift into another quantum reality. The quantum reality that would have happened if Fry fell into the freezer-doddle and went to the future-jiggy.

Problem solved, no need for a wizard.
