I was browsing through CGEF's screenshots when I noticed this:

Mrs. Fry is, in one scene, watching the 2000 Rose Bowl.  The score on the television reads:
WISCONSIN - 9, STANFORD - 3.

This is backwards.  In the 2000 Rose Bowl, the score stood for a while in the first half at WISCONSIN 3, STANFORD 9.

Most Futurama fans are nerds who wouldn't care about sports, let alone small problems like this. At least the creators actually got the real scores, even if it is backwards.

Maybe whoever designed it that way is a Cheesehead?

Alack! But I protest. Some of us are neither nerds nor sports fans but history buffs on theatre scholarships with only SLIGHT fitness problems.

They probably did it on purpose, in the hopes that someday, some nerdlinger on the internet would point it out as a mistake.

Mission accomplished.

They were joking. The attention to detail in this show really is amazing, these are genuine mistakes.

Yeah, they get a lot of the details right, but this looks like just a mistake.

I posted in some other thread about the Mets game Fry's mom is listening to when he's born.  That game never happened.  Jerry Grote was never hit by a pitch in the ninth inning of a game the Mets won.

Maybe there's a connection.  Fry's Mom has a strange reality-warping effect on the sports she watches.  Er... and listens to.

You have a good point there, Eggs.  Maybe she just hears what she wants to (and sees it on the TV).  I actually did research that rather extensively ... the Grote part.  In the year that Fry was born in, I do believe he was walked late in one game.  I think in another game, he was taken out early, or put in ... I forget.  Probably the former ... he was a pretty crummy player from what I recall, probably not batting much more than a buck-fifty, as I recall.

This, however, was several months ago, and I can't be bothered to go through all this information again to find out.  I can't even remember where I found the box scores.

That's weird, adolnikov, as David Cohen made a point of pointing the score out on the commentary, stating that it was accurate. Well, he's made mistakes before.
