Anyone else ever notice, if you put captions on during TDHAIP, when fry says:"you evil, metal, dooooork.", the captions say "you evil, metal, dog." *Wow*

Heh, thats pretty dumb.
I've had the subtitles on while watching a few episodes and a lot of them don't match the words at all, especially on the commentaries.

If they can't get the English right, the foreign subtitles must be really screwy.

I've seen Futurama on Israeli TV with hebrew subtitles... They literally translated Nibbler's name and all sorts of stupid things... its really funny to watch.

I think the reason why the subtitles for the commentaries don't match up properly is because there is too much speech and so a word-for-word transcription wouldn't fit in the space they have for subtitles. Hence, they just give you a shortened version that you have a chance in hell of reading.

Call me stupid, but are you talking about DVD captions or regular TV captions? I've never noticed anything wrong with DVD captions, but a few years ago, I got really sick and my ears were blocked, so I watched TV with subtitles. More often than not, the subtitles were quite screwy.

That's because deaf people write them. You understand how "dork" looks like "dog" when you're reading a cartoon character's lips right? Come on people, give em some freakin credit here.

Like Wernstrum said, you'll only be getting the gist of the line when watching subtitles. Unless you're watching karaoke.

There's been a few subtitle errors. I remember in 1ACV06, Igner's name was captioned as "Edgar."

Does anyone know which episodes has the commentary captioned? I remember people saying there were a few commentaries that were captioned, but I forgot where to look.

Season 1 doesn't have audio commentary captions, I don't think.

So, you just press the SUBTITLE button, and I'll eventually get subtitles? Is the entire commentary captioned, or just parts of it?

It's all captioned, what would be the point of captioning only parts of it?

Just press Subtitle, then scroll through the selections until you find the commentary one.

Back on topic, whenver Zoidberg "whoop"s, it usually says "Mimics three stooges".  Now I've been told that the three stooges whoop, but I don't think Zoidberg is tryin to mimic them.  That's something that really annoys me.

Zoidberg as a person, probably not. Zoidberg as a Futurama character, most definitely.
