In "Parasites Lost", when the pipe that impaled Fry's abdomen was removed, shouldn't his spine have collapsed?  It's pretty clear that his spinal column had been severed, and the rib cage was missed entirely.

Hello? The worms fixed it! If they can make his brain work, heal his skin, and do other stuff, why not that?

It's pretty clear that the worms removed the portion of pipe inside Fry's body before patching him up.  There was also a pause before the worms went to work on the actual repairs.  I'm just saying that Fry's torso would have been extremely unstable with a four-inch section of spine missing even for a few seconds.

I'm getting really sick of these wizardian explanations.  In retrospect I regret the broadcasting of THoH X.

What?  Lack of realism in a cartoon?  Whatever is the world coming to?

Hey, I enjoy hilariously fanciful avoidances of the laws of science as much as the next guy, but for some reason this incident drove my Engineer-Sense crazy.  You see, ever since the day when I was bitten by a radioactive engineer...

Praps the worms built up the spine as they were breaking down the pipe. They act fast, so they may have started repairs as soon as the pipe got lodged inside him. If i remember correctly, the part sticking out just fell off, the stuff lodged inside wasn't forced out, and therefore must have been dissolved or something of the like.

Maybe they USED the pipe as part of the repair process?

aaahh no.they built up a super-filigran structure nobody could have ever seen,it would have held fry´s body even without restoring it to the original layout, but it would have looked crappy.that´s why they rebuilt it.
