Yay, TMC! big grin

I suppose a mod does deserve a win every once in a while.

Now the supposed "council" or whatever it is needs to get together and sort out the PEELies 2013! Have fun with that, y'all! big grin

Great job, TMC! You really deserved to win this round. I can only imagine how stressful your job on the forum can be at times. You've done a very good job moderating lately, and I'm glad that you're getting plenty of recognition.  smile

Are you just going to throw it on the pile, or will you be taunting the losers with it first?

This reminds me of a great thread we had once on NoHomers called 'Does Dan Castellaneta still voice Homer', started by a newbie of course. The regular members had great fun giving ludicrous explanations to the question, until it was eventually locked by a mod. I'd tell VC what POTM stands for, but I'm living in hope that it might turn into another one of these running gags. Unfortunately, he probably already knows what it stands for by now, giving the name of the sub-forum and all.

Congratulations, Thaddeus Michael Chadwick. You deserve this honour, and quite frankly, you have deserved to be given it more often.

What does POTM stand for?

In the Poster Of The Month forum, we crown the board's best posters for the month, and give them this coveted trophy. The brass trophy rotates on a wooden base as the iron core attempts to align with the Earth's magnetic field, and the speed of this is an indication of the strength of that field at any given time and location coordinates.

Therefore the acronym POTM obviously refers to PEEL's Omni-directional Tesla Measurer (Tesla being the SI unit for magnetic flux density). Being unable to deduce this from basic principles is the sort of thing that will keep you from winning it, Croc. no no I hope that you are as deeply ashamed to the core of your being as you ought to be.

We won't be able to get any meaningful data out of that.  You should convert your units into webers so we can get a force co-efficient out of my post count or something.  I really need to start trading posts for bread at this point or my small baby penis might die.

tnuk covered it very well, but I should also mention that the gyroscopic torque acting on the spinning core is proportional to the cosine of its latitude.

why is this thread still open

Because in my opinion, there's no reason to close it until the start of the next nomination thread.
