I passed a couple of exams last year enabling me to be a mortgage arranger/saleser thing. The official designation is ShepherdofShark Cert CII(MP), which is nice.

Today I passed an exam on financial protection so I have some knowledge regarding insurance so as to sell mortgage-related insurance products. The practical upshot of this is I can now work on a commission only basis earning potentially multiples times what I currently earn (on a basic pay and bonus basis) for the company who has financed my recent education.

I'm scared and excited, but mainly scared.

There are no needs, save for one.  Peel need not exist, for example, however a few individuals decided that creating such a thing was useful or desirable, and more individuals saw it and decided that it was useful or desirable for personal reasons. 

The general purpose of Peel, as far as I can tell, is as a forum for people who are aware of the television show Futurama to share ideas and express themselves.  This thread, along with others, serves to achieve that purpose.

The general purpose of this thread, as far as I can tell, is actually different from the purpose of the sites you linked to.  This thread doesn't seem to have been created with the distinct desire of creating a repository of famous quotes, but rather as a page for individuals to share quotes which they specifically enjoy or find applicable in their lives and to discuss the reasons for sharing such quotations.

Under those considerations, it would seem to me that this thread is generally compatible with the direction of Peel.  Furthermore, if this thread manages to garner attention and give individuals a reason to discuss ideas, it would seem to me that this thread also helps combat apathy toward Peel and serves to keep Peel active if only for another year or so.

This thread is hardly "nomination-worthy posts" anymore so much as "quote somebody who said something you agree with to somebody you don't like or don't get" mixed with "quote somebody who made a dumb joke legitimising some particular flavour of on-forum stupidity".

Come on, mate. Surely those are still reasons why somebody found the post nomination-worthy. I think the bigger crime here is people posting about the posts being posted here rather than posting posts they think are nomination-worthy.

If we've sunk to such a low as to be in a place where that's a major criterion for the nom-worthiness of a post, then perhaps that's an indication that the quality of posting has rendered the nomination of any post as worthy material meaningless.

I think the bigger crime here is people posting about the posts being posted here rather than posting posts they think are nomination-worthy.
