You may vote for each choice you support and you may change your choice. Poll is open for one day.

I still support the 1 win per person ever only idea, but if we have to have multiple wins at least make it only once every 12 month.

I used to be of the opinion that once ever was enough, but things have changed and I don't think that's entirely practical or relevant anymore. I'm now of the opinion that everyone who didn't win within 12 months is the best option...

Let's face it, how boring would it be if the same person (or handful of people) kept winning every month? Also, the "everyone who didn't this calendar year" option is a bad idea in my opinion, because a person could win in December and then win the next month in January as well...

People keep raising the whole "Could win twice in a row because of December/January thing" which I can see is a valid point. But what people are failing to remember is that--to the best of my knowledge--that has actually only happened once, and that was Maz, tying with Ralph I believe one month, and then winning outright the next month.

After that, there's myself and perhaps one or two other PEELers who have won with only a small amount of months inbetween.

People are going on about the Dec/Jan thing like it's a common occurrence when clearly it's not.

I concur with Bend-err.  And the problem with the calendar year thing isn't that someone will win two months in a row.  It's that someone will win twice in a span of something like 3 months; which is a short amount of time for people to notice that somebody won "twice in a row."

Let's face it, the only ones that rule would even affect would be Xanfor and DrThunder. I don't mind if either one wins in a December and then January. If you stipulate per 12 months it's possible they could just begin winning every 13th month. Like every September would be a win for Poster A. I'm not saying it would happen, I'm just saying it's possible. If it's one per calendar year it allows some variety. They could win in different months/seasons of the year.

Making it 12 consecutive months, ensures that it would take at least a year for someone to win again.  If someone actually deserves to win multiple times and there are enough people who stick around long enough to continue influencing that perspective, then I certainly think that they can keep that claim.  I don't think you can have a solid enough group of people to continue furthering that agenda for year on year end though... so when someone does win again, it will be because of things they've done recently which helps with the whole idea of Poster of the Month.

The other reasoning for this is that I expect the person who opens the thread to post a list of candidates not eligible each month, like we did for many years until weiner screwed things up.  (no real offense intended toward i_c_weiner)  This list would be super easy to manage if we went by a 12 month basis.  You look at the last thread, drop the top/bottom name and add last month's winner to the list.  This norm makes sense because it actually makes things easier rather than arbitrary.

He agreed with me not actually intending to offend you too though.

Really, it's not your fault... the natural equilibrium reached a point where this sort of thing was going to happen.  That's why, although I argued against it, I didn't do much more than suggest the reasoning behind my arguments.

if we have to have multiple wins at least make it only once every 12 month.

I agree with this.
