And now that August is finally over and I can fully assess the quality of various posters throughtout the month, here are my votes:

I admire your super-human self-control, but you're a joined being, half of which is nearly a thousand years old and carries the memories and experiences of at least 20 lifetimes. How could us mortals match that? August is just such a long damned month, after all... 31 days, for cryin' out loud. Didn't we just have 31 days last month? What's the deal? We shouldn't have to put up with that kind of crap from a damned calendar.

[edit: started with adding the quote to save people flipping back a page, then got carried away with a "minor" rewrite]

And all because Octavian threw a hissy fit when he found out his month would have less days than Cęsars.

Man, I wanted to post a link to this thing I read years ago, on a dial-up BBS. A proposal for the "John Candy Decimal Calendar." It was a joke, making fun of both decimal calendar ideas and the arbitrary nature of the gregorian calendar, it was to start at year 0 on the day of John Candy's death. I thought "John Candy" "Decimal Calendar" was gonna be an instant hit on google. Tried many variations, even the general case "Decimal Calendar" and can't find any variation of the joke.
Damn. Well, since I spent all that time looking, and writing this post, here's something funny about monkeys.
