How often do old threads get deleted on this board? I hear a lot of stuff about "search for this old thread blah blah" but I think it would just make more sense to save space by deleting all those old threads with some auto-prune device or whatever.

PEEL doesn't delete old threads, simple as that.

Old threads have been deleted by crashes of off-topic though.

it would save us from having to close threads if people would take a second or two to look through old topics, but you don't hear me not complaining

I'd hate to see old threads deleted if it wasn't necessary, it is nice to read old stuff and be reminded of some of the people who are no longer here.

I delete old offtopic posts which need not exist every now and then. But that'd be it.

With regards to old threads not being deleted, I agree but I do have a gripe, some of the thread titles bear no resemblence to the actual content of that said thread and I'm certainly not going to read through two to three pages of search results to find the topic I'm after.
But then I am lazy.

So come on peeps, proper thread titles rather than cyptic riddles please!  ;)

Well, it's a general rule that thread names should be about the thread topic, but it's not always adhered to and if it's not the thread isn't restarted with the correct name.

On the cryptic riddles, it's normally used on threads that have exceeded their first encarnation such as the test threads or the computer help threads, but it just helps provide a bit of variety.

A question/request for the MODS.

Is it possible to include the check box for signatures in the edit page?

I keep forgetting to "check" mine.  :(

Edit - I done it again!

That isn't a sig Fred, just a picture, I have to enter the URL each time I use it, I can't just click a box.

My question is can an admin or mod close a thread if asked, i mean it only has around 8 posts, and it was done before (i was too lazy to check).

To Tweek,
That is an admiral job (if that makes sense)

How do you quote two or more people in the same post?

Can an administrator delete a member who has been here for a while and never posted, or only posted a couple of times?

Finally, why can't I find my name on the member list

Sorry if it's a little long, I have a lot to ask.

Yes.

Use the
/
tags and copy&paste.

Yes, but they only do that with banned members.

The member list is updated manually whenever mArc feels like it. It probably wont happen again any time soon. But if you do a search for your username it will appear, since the search scan the profiles instead.

Anyway, many questions are answered in the PEELers FAQ

Thank you Helpy, I think I sent you an e-mail

Were you given the name Helpy McHelp Help and if so how?  That's not the question I e-mailed you for, i'm just curious.

You can save a thread to your thread favs, but how do you view them.

Also, what is an AIM name?

Hmm, it didn't go through, or my spamfilter destroyed it. Try again.

Yeah, it's a costum title, you'll probably notice a few other members have it too. Something mArc hands out if he think you deserve one, or in my case VF spearheads a campaign.

The favorite threads feature has been disabled since it placed an unreasonably toll on bandwidth and system resources.

error 500: Interner Serverfehler
Das angegebene Skript konnte nicht fehlerfrei ausgeführt werden!

Why the hell did i get that???, mayby if it was in english it would make sense, but why is there a german error on PEEL?

Because PEEL is hosted on a German server. Which makes sense considering the owner is German too.

It just means an operation took longer than 6 seconds and returned an error. Nothing you can do about it, but it should only happen once in a blue moon.

My question:
I've recently uploaded a new custom avatar to replace my Roberto avatar, and everybody else seems to be able to see it, yet nothing changes for me and it's still the same old avatar. What should I do to get it to appear for me? Will simply deleting PEEL history on my computer and then coming back make it work?

I've been meaning to ask this for ages, what is the relevance (if any) to Futurama, of the Urban Legend ranking....?

All the other rankings have some sort of connection right....? I know Leela mentions an Urban Legend in the show (can't remember the ep) is that it....?

Yeah, Urban Legend is mentione dy Leela in "I Second That Emotion" (when shes talking about mutants) but it isn't realy a phrase I would relate with Futurama. Maybe someone in charge can answer your question.
