The only time I can recall seeing an edel-edited post was one by Slacky (I think it was Slacky) and she changed a single word he said.

AGH! Someone needs to ban BENDER RULS 124 already. He's quoting large posts to reply with "I agree". making posts with nothing but smilies, and double posting. He's had his time to improve and failed. It's time for a ban.

The first thread raised a serious debate with a lot of awsome theories and he has improved his spelling.  A word of varning from the mods should suffice, a ban might be a little heavy. He makes some good pints from time to time and I think that he can be wonderfully integrated to the PEEL community given a chance.

He has already been given a chance. He's been given multiple chances. I non-sarcastically made a note of his good spelling and he dedicated a double post to giving me a lone finger smiley. Then he started sliding backwards after that. He's been here long enough. People that dumb don't get better. We have 12 year olds here that could run circles around him(YLB, chunks, Kyle even though he's 13 now). The time has come to raise your iron fist and smash it upon this guy. And again. And maybe a third time. But that would be it.

But smashing an 12 year old with our iron fist sound a little hard. He seems to have an honest interest in Futurama and if he could learn a little social skills (maybe thru a warning) I think he can be better. Also, i don't think you can compare allt he new 12 year olds to Y_L_B and Kyle since everyone is different.

I say we give him another warning and another chance. But if the mods decide that he has to be banned I won't start a revolution.

He should be banned for using such a hideously lame insult such as 'TheLampassindent'.

Seriously, has he been warned? I mean, officially? He isn't exactly following board rules.

True, he is really annoying at some points but i dont think that its worthy of getting him banned. Maybe slap a suspension on him and he'll the picture.

Heh heh, "TheLampassindent" actually made me laugh.  We should keep him around just on that.  But once he stops making terrible puns, we kick him out.

I told him to cut out the single-smiley-posts and double posting.

Admins and Uber-mods decide who should get banned, continually posting that you want a person banned is just another form of flaming, if the problem is that bad press the alert button.

He's not only using the classic "age" excuse, but Nationality, of all things, for starting threads. And he keeps whoring his crappy website.

Age, maybe, that's never a great excuse. But nationality? I hardly call:

I actually couldn't tell if he was trying to be insulting or if that was another classic BENDER RULS 124 typo...because he said TLI's name 3 times in that thread and each one got a little better until it became "TheLampIncident"

I think some of you people are complaining about newbies too much.  I understand that these newer members than yourselves may seem extremely annoying, especially considering that you've all been assfed the PEEL rules of etiquette over and over.  But seriously, these offences aren't that bad, especially concerning that over the years, there have been people FAR FAR FAR MUCH worse.  On average most newbs: start a lot of threads in rapid succession in a small amount of time, don't ever use the search button, spell horribly with little or no grammar, and act all around annoying.  However, if given the chance, they bloom; it is such as our very own Nurdy whom I am proud to say is the picture perfect example of this phenomenon.

Then again, some of you may not have been around long to remember his rants of little sense with strange "new" words and odd grammar.  ;)

Whoo! A legitmate complaint!

I've been having trouble accessing the General Discussion boards. Basically, it takes me an overly long period of time to access them. I've seen a few other people complaining about this, so I guess it's something up with the board. None of the other boards have this problem.

Any help?

I just click the "Last Post" thread, and it takes me in, no problem, with no slow times. Kind of like taking the window to get into the house, but good until they fix it.

My opinions, the correct ones:

Bumping a thread should never be shouted at if you contribute to the conversation. If people aren't interested any more, thread will die. No need to get in an arse and saying "This shouldn't have been bumped". Better than opening a new thread, catch 22 as someone else said.

I have been campaigning for removal of the word "n00b" for ages. It's a lame, derogatory form of internet elitism and pisses me off no end. There are so many better words to describe retarded posters in more derogatory and creatively hilarious ways. Registration date should never be bought into a debate lest the offender be anally probed with a faulty mercury thermometer.

People make spelling mistakes. You can tell the difference between someone who posts a handful of typos (myself included, I can think of many other posts who make typos or incorrectly use capitalisation) and those who are spelling badly on purpose. For all you know the "offender" could be dyslexic or English may not be their first language. By no means am I condoning use of chatspeak as there isn't an excuse for not typing out full words here, but I shouldn't feel that I have to run every post through Microsoft Spellcheck to make sure it is free from innocent mistakes lest certain nazis pull me up and send me to the gaskammer.

I should get the custom title "n00b lover" or something. I always seem to stick up for new people here and in the chatroom.

I'm with Archie. Although, I guess you'd have to just settle for "New User Lover", if you want to see n00b eradicated. Doesn't have the same ring to it...  :)

I also have been having this problem lately.  At first I thought it was my computer to blame, but a trip to my local library's computers shows it might be PEEL.

I agree, it is far better than having several threads on a subject, if it is rubbish and shouldn't have been bumped one of the mods will close it, or as Archie says it will just sink again, anybody other than the mod who closes posting just to say to didn't need bumping is just spamming, unless they post a link to a more recent or better version of the bumped thread.

It seems some people can't read sadly  :(

There is too much moaning here about certain newbies, if you have a problem with them press the alert button. We don't need debates about which person is worse or whether somebody's trolling is funny or not.

Marc already knows about this complaint of mine from me and Wesley bugging him about it in the chatroom a few weeks ago, but I still think that the search engine on this board should be fitted with these two minor upgrades - and that with these upgrades in place, it would help the newbies and probably cut down on at least SOME spam and threads being posted where's there's already a thread on its topic:

1) On the "Search Forum/Archive" selection menu, have a selection to search ALL forums of PEEL at once and not just one forum at a time

2)On the search results page, the search engine should link directly to posts within a thread, and not just the thread itself, because many titles of threads here at PEEL don't really make the thread appear to be about what the thread is actually about - and to complement that, I'd also like to suggest putting in a default in the search engine to always link to the first post of any thread it finds results in.

I think I also told you that I oppose those changes.
The first means that PEEL has to handle way longer CPU peeks due to going through all forum indexes when often people only need to look through maybe 2 forums.
The second one just isn't possible without rewriting the whole search feature and indexing everything anew.

The thing about searching for posts is that it also gives a date as well, so even if it's a thread with 20 pages that you're looking in, it's still not very hard to find the posts you're looking for.
