What's the difference and how does a JM become a M?

A JM becomes a M by making more than 20 posts.

And there is no difference at all, Junior Members have the exact same privileges as Members. I think it's just a feature of UBB that can't be switched off.

There are no rank privileges, a DOOP secretary has no more rights than a Poppler.
