I see a lot of posts with people describing episodes as "shippy."  At first, I thought this was one person's term for trippy, but as I see it used more and mroe I become less and less convinced.  Could someone tell me what it means?

Looknig forward to uding this board!

The word come from "relationship".

If an episode is shippy it mean the episode in some form or way deal with an ongoing relationship in Futurama, be it Fry and Leela, Amy and Kif, etc. What make an episode shippy varies from person to person.

People who live for shippy episodes, and love everything that have to do with Fry/Leela, Amy/Kif, etc are called shippers. The usually like mushy and romantic stuff.

Welcome to PEEL. Enjoy it here.

I thought it came from "fan worship," like when the writers toss in callbacks to previous episodes or plot elements that only fans would appreciate. Both the in-jokes and romantic stuff fits under this one.

Or perhaps I'm an idiot.

Except shippy is used strictly (at least on PEEL) about romance/relationship in an episode, without it having to mention or reference previous episodes.

As example, "Time Keeps On Slipping" is considered a really shippy episode, where as "The Day Earth Stood Stupid" generally isn't although it have a lot of references to earlier episodes.
