I have a request for PEEL. I don't exactly know how to set this out, so I'll just say it. There should be an "Introduce Yourself" thread for new PEELers. They can say hello to everyone and they can explain a bit about themselves. The thread will be one that you can post in, FYI, and each "Intro" post will have to be seperate in order to keep things tidy and not so confusing. Because it's a bit silly, really, when you think about it. Because as soon as someone signs up, normally what they do is just start posting straight away; no introduction, nothing.
If this place wants to be a good place for, specifically new PEELers, then I would suggest that thread. Most forums have one, so I don't see why this one shouldn't.

Then why do you go along with saying that anyway?

This has popped up for well over a decade. How would such a user know about such a thread when it gets buried, or even which forum to go to?
Usually the people that get indoctrinated most easily are the ones who are self-aware super lurkers, and they get introduced in more ways than one. I'm not totally against this idea myself, but to be honest I don't see it ever being implemented. Plus, how often do people make "Hi, I'm new threads" these days? Maybe I'm not paying attention enough. I have no idea.

I think a better idea might be to sticky a "New to PEEL?" thread which gives links to the appropriate Wiki pages and gives a general quick blurb about the forum, ie. if you want to introduce yourself use the test thread.
It's not needed SO much right now, but if it becomes an issue I think PEEL would benefit from that sort of thing.

You could make an automated "Hello and welcome to PEEL" message that includes the location of the thread maybe?

Hi, I'm new. self-aware super lurkers Hey, like me!! As you well know PEEL ain't broken. Neither is it for new members.
You want new members to be integrated? Don't help them along automatically. It ain't the way we do things around here. Deal with it. These. Agree assent and accord. Never really saw the point in having anything like that. Meery, I liked your unban-and-unburn-Books thread better, even though I was one of those "2 or 3 others" who was refusing to make it myself, hehh.

Yeah, I can see where this topic is headed... I just wanted to get my idea out there, is all. See what other people thought of this idea. I mean, most forums _do_ have one. Such as the other one I'm on which is for my clan; that has an "Introduce yourself" thread. But if it "ain't the way we do things around here" then I suppose I'll have to go along with that. But it wouldn't hurt to maybe "postpone" or put the idea in the maybe pile would it? ;P I mean, you may never know what happens in the future. It could be the PEELapocalypse! :O

Peel doesn't need shit like introduction threads, it has worked perfectly well for over a decade without them and it doesn't need them now...
