Can't recall if this has been suggested before...but it might be nifty to have a very own subforum dedicated to episode reviews, like HR Department and Stockroom has. It would make finding the episode review threads a lot easier and it would be a great way to archive the forum's opinions of episodes all in one place. Like a PEEL Vault, but instead an Episode Vault...you catch my drift.

I have been thinking of this for a while but recently upon my own searching and "bumping" of episode review threads I felt it might be a cool idea to have one. It could even be subcategorized by Season like we do for the PEELies. Eh?

I must admit it hadn't struck me before, but it does sound a good idea :)

Second.
I think it's a bit odd that there're so many categories for the little, detailed stuff somewhere hidden within episodes but no category for the episodes themselves.

I propose that we delete all the accounts with zero posts on them. Obviously they aren't coming back, so they just take up bandwidth space. Get rid of 'em!

Ooh, ooh, we could call this one the Central Beurocracy! With only moderators being allowed to post new threads, and all the existing ones moved over to start their new lives there. It would be an idyllic paradise for review threads. I could start mostly ignoring General Discussion and the various flavours of idiot floating around there.

Not sure yet that I like taking meat out of the general disscussion board or adding another board on the main page... How about just a stickied/locked thread with links to the threads? Anyone willing to come up with the links?

I linked ALL review threads linked on the wiki, and think it's pretty up to date as well:

It's kinda the theme of GD really, isn't it?

Bend-err's wiki list could be linked to in some sort of page-topping announcement. Don't even need a thread for it.

If Tnuk can, I can.

Not necessarily. I mean, for a start I am capable of making cromulent posts that contribute to a discussion.

Furthermore, I quoted my own post from a previous page. You quoted your own post from just over a quarter of a page ago. There's a clear difference.

I propose that Nibblonian Leader's account be deleted, his IP address blocked, and he himself be hurled into the sun.

Just kidding about hurling him into the sun. Simply shooting him would be fine.

I am just courious?

and I am guilty of this as anyone is..(but obviously so)

How come the site doesn't demand the author of a thread to also include the gist of the thread seperate from the title

Like this when I am navagatine the site

Title of Thread
Gist or Exactly what this about.

I like having fun here, just like the rest of you...But the fallout is killing me.

Wow, I think I understand the post. I think mP means that on other forums, when making the topics, there will be a little blurb or something that describes what the topic is about. Either that or the topic should be explained in the title instead of just making allusions to what it's about it in the title.

Did that make any more sense than the other post did?

I think I understand what you're saying Bianca and I see that as more of a preference/non-issue. From anyone's first post and thread title currently you can get the basic gist of what the thread is about I think. If we blatantly have to spell it out, where's the critical thinking? I don't take pleasure in reading exactly what something is all the time. That doesn't make me use my brain. Although... the younger gens NEED things spelled/doled to them like toddlers because they don't learn critical thinking skills anyways so I dunno. Maybe we should have to spell it out to help the less fortunate souls. I think this is one of those things that varies from thread to thread and subforum to subforum. Like...an art thread... We already KNOW what's basically gonna be contained inside yes? It'd be nice if they said what kinda of art (maybe we should have one-word tags to attach?) but I'm not bothered. In fact not knowing makes me curious enough to explore.

I see no use in any of the original suggestion. Each thread is pretty self-explanatory, and on the off chance it isn't, that's what the wiki is for. So many people have used the site without problem, why should we have to start dumbing things down now.

I knew there was a list somewhere on the wiki...

How about:

Why is this not a sticky in GD? I feel like you guys just got 95% of the way through a solution and then were like "ah screw it that's good enough" without actually implementing it. :p

I agree with Randi, most of the titles make sense and the ones that don't make sense are probably for threads that themselves don't make sense.

Since I am hardly ever in On Topic I don't see every thread ever made. But you should know that even YOU can add to the list on the wiki: http://wiki.peelified.com/List_of_threads_in_General_Disscussion

So stop complaining about dated content and go fix it yourself!

We could do with having a link somewhere highly visible (like on the front page or as part of the registration process) to the manual pages on wikiPEELia.

It might help to prevent common newbie mistakes.

This isn't something I inherently disagree with.  However, you have to consider where such a link would be placed.  There's already a link to wikipeelia on PEEL's front page.  There happens to be a help link on the front page as well; perhaps placing a small blurb on the help page would be helpful in its own way; you've already suggested as part of the registration process as well which I can't see as being hurtful.

I believe the link you provided to mistaken newbie behavior is a little too expectant though.  Even with all the information available, I believe it's unreasonable to expect new members to actually find that information on their own without taking a significant amount of real estate out of the way PEEL is currently displayed (which would be a negative thing in and of itself); and even if such an action occurred, I'd still expect most people to not read the manual.  I've even made arguments about how most peelers aren't at all familiar with the rules laid down when one registers an account in the first place.

As a side addendum, I think your manual thing would nicely do with a link to the Avatar page; the guidelines set forth on that page come up rather frequently in my opinion, and although I doubt that most people would see it even if it were more accessible, I think making it easier to access would be beneficial for individuals who seek out that information on their own, but are unaware of what to look for.  I'll probably still link to that Avatar page repeatedly in the avatar thread just to make my mind think that people are actually familiarizing themselves with the avatar guidelines.

It would be easiest as a default PM that gets sent to all new members when they sign in. Like a welcome message.

Ok.  booze helped me. :)

This sounds like arguably the best way to go about it.  It'll give new users an introduction to the pm system too.  Not sure how easy it would be to implement automatic pm sends on registration, but arguably shouldn't be too hard.
