Any ideas to prevent the newbie spamming as we have all seen by Bav Da Dude? Spamming is okish in the right place (Label that person, test threads...) but repeated posting in the same thread offtopic this much needs to be limited.

I suggest Rank Suspension and Spam posts not counting until they stop.

ok, new members need to wait longer between posts now:

any poppler will have to wait an additional (6 - posts) minutes, so after 3 posts you'd need to wait 1 + (6-3) = 4 minutes and after the first 1 + (6 - 1) = 6 minutes.

This doesn't seem to work. Unless it has applied to everyone retrospectively. I'm getting a 420 sec flood control message and it doesn't seem to be decreasing.

I know you're a pothead, but come on, 420 seconds is ridiculous! That's like...*counting on fingers*...a lot of minutes!

I notice a that people who make threads tend to post more in them. Isn't there some way to stop this? And while we're at it, why don't we make them wait for their posts to be approved by a mod? And if they spam a lot they should get a virus. And also, you should win things by posting worthwhile things. (No prize for me!)

I think people post more in their own threads because if they care enough about something to start a thread they care enough to comment on peoples replies, I don't think there is really a need for threads to be approved before people can post in them, if they are just spam a mod will close them anyway.

i agree with tweek. but what i don't like are people posting 4 posts in a row. like for every quote a new post. so, for everybody who does that: this is not necessary. how about just open the additional quotes in new windows and then copy and paste them into your real post?

Ah, the Edit Function. Such raw pleasure.

If only I could edit my entire life in that fashion. Such as:
"I spent frickin' loads[Edit] A Sensible Amount [/Edit] last night. I drank frickin' loads [Edit] Only In Moderation [/Edit] and got back home about 7:00 am. [Edit]In time to catch some sleep for the night.[/Edit]

Marc, can you invent some UBB code that will allow us to do that? Please. By now, computers should be able to edit the past, make breakfast, and cheer you up with highly amusing catchphrases. They should also have advanced so far as to be able to feel love, and pain and all the things we can feel. why can't I get toast over the Net. Why?

...Okay. Coo-coo-Kaka.

Feelin' better now. But I love the edit button.

Damn I don't ever go to the Wish Void enough, anyway if people want to spam then the closest your gonna get is in the label that person threads, but makes sure that you don't double post.
